This message is to Nihil.
I dont know a lot about running servers on linux. but i have read on some past topics that Nihil had a very nice system to make players connect to his servers , and let them appear on top of list on ingame browser , without making them switch port brutally and disconnect players.
Now that Ringos are dead i think it will be good for E+ community and for those who run servers to learn how he did that.

this wille be good for the mod to let server runners own all other mods. by letting E+ servers be the first choice to new players of q3.

At least the experience of Ringos will not be lost forever.

Our servers don't switch ports at all and starless has a script that allows them to appear on top of the list, but as someone said above if everyone knew how to do it then it wouldn't be a befit for any of us.

iptables/pf and cron solution is fine, but with my portswitch you can kill two flies with one shot, you need to restart server (start new process) once per day anyway (cause of memory leaks after long uptime)
both solutions have own advantages/disadvantages

really nope it can be interval from 1 minute to infinity (depends on conditions)

anyhow there are many ways how to do it, no magic behind it
