Well, I have to go with Half-Life. It had the smartest gameplay for its time (you had to use your brains), good NPC interaction and one very unusual intro. I think it gave the genre the push that it needed, in terms of single player quality.

i would pick up games like Blood, ShadowWarrior, Alien vs Predator or Sin. Final Doom 95 was surely the best Laughing

Back when I started it was Doom and Doom 2. Although I did venture into Wolf3D a few times, rofl. Return to Castle Wolfenstein is a great SP game, but I didn't try MP yet. However Quake 2 takes the prize for me... that's where I learned strafe/rocket/grenade jumps, 1 shot 2 kill railgun shots...

and the shellshocked prisoners ("make it stop", "it hurts", "kill me now") crack me up still.

Multiplayer FPS

Quake 1 (IMO still better than Q3 when it comes to action). Learned strafejumping grenade/RL jumping...

Singleplayer FPS

Halflife and Return to castle Wolfenstein are the ones I enjoyed the most..

imho HL2 kix ass. I haven't played many of the games that u've put here, I'm not old enought to remember them, but hl2, the graphics, the gameplay, and the fact that it ran beautifully even on old computers is good enought for me. and CS: Source is nice too, along with q3 E+ Big grin

Yea, yea, my bad, but you guys know what i mean Tongue

@Silence: I know i missed a few titles, but due to limited poll options in this forum i decided to only pick games that had impact on both the genre scene and multiplayer gaming scene in general. I would surely add games like RTCW:ET, Far Cry, Red Faction, AvP2 etc but limited space, bah Sad
