Server Config, Noob Question
So I've installed E+ and can play on other people's servers. I run a private OSP server for after hours play on a corporate LAN (Yes it's sanctioned, lol) and want to switch to E+.
At home I ran the xp_dedicated.bat file, and then fired up quake and joined my own server. Ran fine. (note all this testing is done on the same PC... server and client)
I wanted to switch configs, so I edited server.cfg and tried setting it to load conf/excessive3.cfg (tried both with and without the .cfg).
When I fire up the bat file and start the server and then try to run quake and join the game, I get the MOTD stuff telling me "welcome to ..." etc. and then it just stays on "Connection Interrupted." WTF?
Also, if I use a stock config (or copy excessive3.cfg to another name and mod it to my own wishes), do I have to somehow load the default.cfg also? Or does that load automatically and the custom config overrides the default.cfg setttings?
Sorry for the noob questions, I did look around and didn't see anything like this. It's very possible I missed it, sorry if it's been covered.
the first map in rotation as same as map you start the server with. change the map that is loaded first in your server.cfg or change the first map in your rotation.txt (or .cfg).

default is always loaded first, then other overwrite it.
it has been answered arround, but that topic would be really hard to dig up (not even sure on what board it is) so dont trouble yourself
you can run any ammount of quake servers on one machine and any number of client quake copies. as long as your cpu and ram can handle it, of course

no problem, i had the same thing on my wlan server.
one final warning: never load tourney3 map with team games (tdm, freeze...).
you will block your server in an infinitive loop.
Ya I know what that's like with tourney 3. It would crash my server all the time when I tried loading it. If I only knew before.

Hmmm. I am using the default rotation.txt file, which I believe is Q3DM1, and I did set that in the server.cfg (I believe it has test_box as the first, which I commented out and put in q3dm1) and same issue.
However, it was late last night I was doing this. I'll give it a once over again tonight. If I still have an issue, I'll post my server.cfg and such.
Shouldn't be any issue running (as a test...) dedicated server & the client on the same machine, right? I know I've done that before while testing other mods and it's been fine [the machine can handle it].
