Back in my days (omg im getting old? ) there was great 2!s freeze which was my fav: good pings, players and stuff, but slowly it became unpopular and empty, and finally disappeard. Almost all players moved to beer but i dont feel its very crowdy. Ive never had to wait longer than 5 mins @ lazy sunday.

And I heard that pickup servers are 'live'...

oh, 2!S Freeze is still there, but as ringzero server.

The main problem is that, that that the people move to busy servers.

I kept up 2!S Freeze a looooong time pure and with pb and with customaps suggested by community.

That did not help, more and more players moved to beer freeze and aim+ freeze, at this time both servers didnt used pb+pure nor custom maps.

People prefer easy gaming basically, just if they dont have any other choise they play also on pb+pure servers and load custom maps. (That happened on 2!S Freeze, when i started like beerfreezer started without pb, without pure without custommaps and people moved more and more from Mr. Freeze to 2!S Freeze, also a other prob was, that mr. freeze had a bad rooting especially for germans and polish people (Pings like 180). And no, it was not 1.03 Netcode, the problem appeared already under 1.02b.

And tyrant, if u speak about decent servers, just for example, my servers are more as decent if u take the average dates. Good ping for nearly everyone, huge availability of custommaps (which obviosly noone wanna play, generally spoken), best of the best pb configs if wished, made by flexone and EN, no customfiles with autodownload etc.

Beer Freezer has meanwhile a big rooting problem, which appeared also at Mr. Freeze years ago. Many germans have now a ping of 300 and many polish players a ping of 100-150, it is not that decent any more. (is it on a new host?)

Personally i would play also on DEF Servers, but they hosted too many servers and u feel it when u play there, that they have too much RAM in usage and it lags too much based on that. RS Servers are pretty good, but i dont like it when maps get changed in middle of the game. Aim+ Servers i cant speak about the current situation, but in past i had there big lag problems, so peronally i played mainly on beer, because good connection and nice people, now there are just nice people left, the connection is gone, at least for me.

all are welcome on freeze it ringzero, also faith will have soon a important hand on it.

Sorry to dissapoint some of you, but i had/have a neutral till good relationship with Reno, so, it was not a real competition.

I was playing on 2!S Freeze and the old TC/AIM servers + Mr Freeze until I decided to rent my own server. The thing is, there was no intention to steal players and become a selfish fucker with that server. It was just nice to add another server to the community and let people have fun without very strict rules. Luckily for me and the rest of you guys, Mrs Mona, Skinnis and Mistress, Tarasbuljba/Hypernite (root masters) helped me admin the server and have done a great job at keeping it as clean and smooth running as possible, which became attractive for good players over time.

Now another reason it's popular is probably because of those port scripts which most people use now i think which makes the server show up in the q3 search more often than default (i don't understand how it works, it just does)

Myself and Mow had a misunderstanding about the whole 2!S vs Beer on a few occasions, which in my opinion was stirred and fuelled by other peoples senseless and negative topics/posts/ cheap shot comments. And it's those same people that forget that at the same time Beer was started there was also AIM/DEF/AMG/Mr running freeze servers... but nevermind.

Personally I would like to play on 2!S and Mr servers if there were others who were online there. The only server I will never play on are the POLANDAMG servers, which strangely always seems to be busy these days. There are more than enough servers for twice as many of us to play on. In my opinion It's the port trick that makes it busy and the good admins that make the players stick around.
