Sudden and persistant frame rate problem!
If you use an nVidia card, use nvHardPage tool. You use predefined profiles and the tool is very complete.
I was having the same problem when I played on my laptop. Went away when I got my new desktop built, but soon came back...the reason for me was the CPU was getting too hot. Not hot enough to shutdown, but enough to fuck with things. Once I got it cooled down and regulated it has gone away.
So, if you've checked eveything else, might look their. Think this might be my problem on my laptop. Both are dual core. Hard to keep those bitches cool enough, but way worth it once you do.
Same problem here. been playing for a few months, no probs. then all of a sudden today it's choppy. Happened on both of my computers (two seperate vesions of Q3). If it has happened to others too, there has to be some kind of connection. Something has changed to caused this, either from server side, or client side.
I don't have the problem, maybe its a setting?
I dont think it's PB, because I updated it and have no trouble.
Maybe theres something wrong with a server setting, like when the server updated PB to the new one, it might of added a setting that screws people up?
Er now I have the problem..but my fps goes from 125 to 20..anyone figure out whats up with this?
hmm if u have a dual core (which is what i see from ur signature), u mite wanna check the core that that q3 process is associated with. if its done with both cores, u mite wanna change it to just one core (core 1 i think) and see what happens.
im not sure of any of this cos this is from the cpma forums where ashr had the same problem. ill try to look that thread up from there and copy it here.
Thats the stats for the pc im saving up for, im on a p4 1.4GHz..it has something to do with pb, i turned it on, and my fps got demolished
Pb had a "maintenance" update recently, so perhaps that's it. I noticed fps acting like it was on drugs on pb=1 servers too, tho not as hardcore as from 125 to 20. >_>
Unfortunately that won't work for me bro, I have an ATI Radeon X300SE 128mb card. Just installed the new driver and catalyst control center from ATI's website. It worked for a day and I had 125fps again then the next day it dropped back down to 30-70fps constant with packet loss lag.
