system crashes

Hi guys,

Been a while since my PC has had any sort of issues with q3, but the one its currently causing is really quite frustrating as I have no idea what's causing it.

Specs:
CPU - i7 920 2.66ghz
GFX - GTX 260
RAM - 6gb DDR3
Win7 x64 on 120gb SSD

So the problem is after around 10mins my computer will completely freeze (image sticks with sound making a constant buzzing noise) and it's completely unresponsive to all shortcuts to quit / open process tree etc. The weird thing is that this only seems to happen when I play in a cw so I'm wondering if it is connected to PB somehow? Or maybe TS? As these are the only things different I think when I'm playing a cw...

Any help appreciated.
Cheers
Ash

Cheers guys.

No anti-virus software installed... Not had a virus in maybe 10 years or so lol

Just checked my firewall options though and q3 was being blocked so maybe this will cure it. If so, I owe you a beer! Happy

Re: system crashes

maybe something wrong with soundcard guys? especially with "microphone part" of it ;>
when something is starting to overheat, then pc "should" turn do restart or power off. when have short circut (great movie from my childhood!) somewhere then "should" freeze.

try to run some graphic benchmark to test your graphic card (and probably most of other parts from your pc), or connect to ts and try to talk for those 10-15 minuts and watch results. try to eliminate components of your machine.
remember it always can be software problem! you can try to reinstall drivers and software.

when you use sound/microphone features on the your external hd video card sometimes It would be conflict on board features.

I think it seems microphone or sound hardware/driver conflict. from device manager remove HD features. try again. ıf you dont know how it do, dont do it yourself

also You can system restore the backup which was working properly. you should be carrefull you may lost some data.

Re: system crashes

This is an interesting point as I have my mic plugged into onboard audio, but my speakers/headphones plugged into the sound card... not sure why, but i'll see if it makes any difference, cheers!
