Yeah, man. It seems that every thread that spawns any sort of a discussion (even if it is on topic!) gets sent straight to the trash can. I understand that some of those deserve it (like the OMG DS = HQ thread, which was bullshit), but not all of them, come on.

There really isn't that much to write about on these forums (sans the somewhat barren and pointless flames over e5 cups and the 1.04 threads), am i the only one that gets the feeling thrash canning all those threads that had an argument in them is a bit of an extreme?

HYPOCRITE!!! HYPOCRITE!!! BIGOT!!!

HEY GUYS THIS DUDE IS A BIGOTED HYPOCRITE LETS RAPE HIM IN ASS

But mad actually DOES have a good point... it was annoying 2 years ago and it still is annoying now... offesnive topics, and actual trolling should be locked, but heavy moderation is annoying to bear.

1) I dont appreciate being called a fucking idiot, even as a joke
2) That was purely an example of how you yourself were in a trigger-happy stage yourself, and the irony of you going all Mother Teresa all of a sudden.
3) you still had banned quite a few threads which had potential AND werent that flammable.
4) point stays, trash happy modding can get a litle annoying

I don't appreciate being called a bigot and a hypocrite, so we're even.

No, you completely missed the point, here. In fact, you inadvertently reinforced what i wanted to flesh out: if a thread gets drowned in shit, remove the posts that caused it, not the thread.

I did indeed make a few mistakes here and there; nobody is perfect. I also retconned some of them by bringing the threads back from the trash/unlocking them if i was presented with a solid argument for it.

This, and i'm not going Mother Theresa (even though my nick starts with an 'm', i'm not from Sweden Chatterbox), i just want to be able to properly close a discussion, which, nowadays, is impossible, because the threads get thrown in the trash as soon as, OMG, people start discussing.

Please don't be a crybaby, there's enough of those here.

could you show some examples in trash can, which were moved as a result of "heavy moderation"?

mostly the moderation is pretty low. even trolling and flames are tolerated up to a certain level.
but topics get locked/trashed if a number of community members calls for moderation.

in case you feel a topic was locked/trashed too quickly, then feel free to pm... if it is appropriate the topic will get unlocked/moved back Winking

Out of recent ones, the lg power shot thread, shady's thread and laki's thread about cards. There also was a bunch that were apparently deleted. And, of course, the locked Edawn thread.

Now, it's not a whole lot of threads, but when you consider that there's not much threads that have actual discussion in them at all, the proportions get less sweet.

I dunno, it might just be me, though?

- lg power shot thread
many users requested to lock/trash that topic (to be seen within the topic)

apart from this, I wouldnt call them "recent" Winking anyways...

- shady's and laki's threads were obviously trash... trance's thread on that topic was the one that shouldnt have been trashed imo.
meanwhile skull is gone as mod.

- edawn thread
imo it wasn't necessary at all to lock that thread. probably even contra productive, seeing that a corporation would be the only reasonable way to go. but you know, there is a hierarchy around here. More transparency and democracy would probably be way better for our community. Imo something edawn missed as well (otherwise it would have had a much greater success so far).
