this came up in the concol a few times tonight
never seen it b4

AFAIK it's just PB sending a query to the Evenbalance server to see if there are any cvar problems or anything needing to be updated. I see it quite frequently playing PB-enabled servers, usually right after I join or whenever Punkbuster is first enabled.

the thing is PB shouldnt be enabled on the server
i'll just go have a look . server crashed the other night
had to restart the server , so might have enabled when i do that

naa this message comes when pb is disabled too
donno what directly it is but its normal (it cant be any check for pb updated when pb is off Happy )

regardless of it being off and on the masterserver (serverlist) still has to know what is connecting to it's servers. it's normal for punkbuster to go and check in with the masterserver even if it's off server-side. All it would be doing is telling punkbuster is off, punkbuster is out of date, etc, etc. Now to speculate, if you never installed PB i do not believe you would ever see any messages about PB, except for when you connect to a server that requires it telling you that you do not have it.

Now in regards to a client, i do not know what happens if the client has PB turned off. I would assume it would just completely be oblivious to PB messages (as long as the PB services are disabled) but I am not sure about that.

ok thanx guys !
yeah i've got pb , but its way out of date , never updated it

the funny thing is , server has only been running 2 - 3 weeks
and never had any of these msgs from master server
untill the server crashed the other night . pb is switched off.
also it was very busy till server crash , now hardly any players at all

E+ is so complex to me ,,,,lol Idea
