While some Clans are comprised of members from a single country, many Clans are multi-national.

This requires the Clans to adopt an Official language. In WASP and WASP2, that language is English. Of course, not everyone is a linguist so many struggle to understand and to communicate.

In both WASP Clans there are times when I need to resort to free Internet translation programs like Babel Fish and Google Translate.

However, the translations that these services provide can range from absolutely hilarious to very good.

Example: I needed to tell a Spanish member in WASP2 something recently. Here is the translation results:

Original Message in English:

The Fun War on Sunday will not be Freeze Tag. It will be Clan Arena. So, there will be no thawing. Have you ever played Clan arena?

The Babel Fish translation in Spanish:

La guerra de la diversión el domingo no será etiqueta de la helada. Será arena del Clan. Así pues, no habrá el deshelar. ¿Usted ha jugado siempre la arena del Clan?

When I used Babel Fish to translate it back into English this was the result:

The war of the diversion Sunday will not be label of the frost. It will be sand of the Clan. Therefore, there will be no melting. You have always played the sand of the Clan?

WTF? I did not expect it to be perfect but this is INSANE.

Google's translation in Spanish:

La Diversión guerra el domingo no será Freeze Tag. Será Clan Arena. Así pues, no habrá deshielo. ¿Han tocado alguna vez Clan escenario?

When I used "Google's Translate" to translate it back into English this was the result:

The Fun War on Sunday will not Freeze Tag. It will be Clan Arena. Thus, there will be no thaw. Have you ever touched Clan scenario?

Not perfect but certainly understandable.

How do other clans deal with Clan communications? Do you use a better translator? Do you have someone in your clan who acts as a translator? Do you refuse members who do not speak the same language?
