As far as I can remember switchtime was always around -1 ...then 1.03 was replaced and switchtime was adjustable, this helped stop some of the scripters. The problem was for a few weeks it was not set, so weapons had an almost instant fire and switchtime, and this felt good to people and hey got used to it. But ultimately leads to spam filled maps with less aiming and more flooding corners etc with mixed gunfire.

So after that period having the switch set as it was/should be it feels slow. its not its just as it was....or something like that.

I personaly freakin hate the Plus config. I haven't had the luxury of playing on a BRO config so I don't know how it feels. I do like the NWC config tho. I'd like the oportunity to play on a server with a BRO config so I can get a feel of it.
A standard config for CW is a good idea. I can get used to the slow rail recharge times of the Plus config but I need the grenades to fire when I try to move with them instead of sitting there like a boob for 2.5 seconds waiting for them to explode so I can move and then have to wait another 2.5 seconds before I can fire my rail after switching back. It causes one to get shot. It might be that if I were to smoke a big fat joint and then play the Plus config might feel ok.
But I don't do that so its slow as molassas and a handicap for me.
The Plus config does not cut down on spam as it was intended, it actually makes rocket and bfg spamming easier for those that do it. They don't have to worry as much about someone with a rail shooting them while they spam doorways and corners. But that's my opinion from the times I've played and speced on servers that run it.
It doesn't matter what config you play on if you have spammers, they are going to spam and it is bad for everyone no matter what.
So why not make a rule that if during a CW someone spams they have to sit out. I can't say which config would be best, it may be that a combination of configs is a universal solution. Until I get the chance to play some of the others out there all I can say is "PLUS.CFG SUX..."

PS: At least with faster weapon times one can shoot the shit out of a spammer a lot easier.

anyway, plus does not small spam? I see 250 % more spam in deex server (which is quiet fun to play there sometimes) as on any server which has plus.cfg loaded. With some exceptions, every player in plus.cfg has 80-85 % of his kills with rail.

About nwc config i can say nothing bad, its the perfect ctf.cfg for me in e+.

I just wonder why i have always have 50+ frags and a 70 + score on deex server, when the config where i come from is so bad. I must add, i am just an average skilled player in europe.

Yes I exagerated about the time, I was being a sarcastic smart ass. I was trying to point out the fact that those who move with the grenades need them to do their thing as soon as they need them to. NOT to use them to frag with. I don't use the grenades to kill, I use the rail and the shotgun. I use the BFG to move with as well but not often enough I can tell any difference in switch time for it. The slow rail recharge time I can deal with. But I want to move when I friggin want to move. Not have to wait an eternity (smart ass comment there) for the damned grenade to do what it is supposed to do.
Using weapons wisely isn't an issue for me. I don't use rocket to kill, I don't use grenade to kill I don't use plasma gun or mg or gauntlet at all. I use bfg to move with and rarely to kill with.

Oh, and I play on deex's rarely because I hate freeze so pointing out that config to me is pointless.
I like CTF and TDM and I play a lot of FFA. I'd play more TDM but the servers running it use the PLUS CONFIG so not many ppl play on them. I play mostly on GOD's or Brain Pan. There is spam there too but at least I can move when I need to. To top it off, everyone I've played with does not like the PLUS Config. I've not actually played with anyone that says, "I like this config".
Everyone I have played with agrees with me. IT SUX.

PS: Yes there is spammage on Plus config. The reason it is easier for the rocket and bfg spammers is they dont have to worry as much about getting railed because the rail recharge time is so slow. Ergo, they spam the shit out of door ways and around corners with rocket and bfg.

PSS: It is a simple fact that if you change a server's config, all you do is force ppl to change their tactics and spammers are usually the first to adapt.
Some one please send me a copy of a BRO config so I can try it out. I'd love to find an alternative to the plus config that is acceptable to those few who seem to dictate which config is standard for the many who dislike it that are to lazy or just don't want, to voice thier opinions.

Thanks for the dig at my rail skills Tartaros. Considering you haven't seen me play. I average over 30 percent with rail which is a little better than 6 shots per kill and not bad for an old woman like me. (blow rasberry here)

Unfortunately, Late evening in europe for me is while I'm still at work early afternoon. Watching and playing are two different things.

Simple fact, I hate the plus config, you don't. You won't convince me it is good and I am not going to be able to convince you it sux.

And so far it seems, Europeans are the ones that like this config. Every player that is over here that I have spoken with passionately dislikes it.

We have a difference of opinion and this thread is pointless for me but at least I got to vent some of my frustration.
