why kick
thats crap ...
I've done it before, it helped.
Clearly not crap.
btw im wondering - why is that ... normally 24 fps is enough to present a smooth movement (movies in cinemas or tv has 24 fps value) ... then why while playing a game one feels the difference so clearly?
Thats maybe because q3 is a very dynamic game. In the movie when it comes to display very fast moving object or any other kind of dynamic scene, motion bluring comes to play. So watching motionblured object you percept its movement much smoother. And in q3 there is no motion bluring. Thats why you need more fps for movement to appear smooth. Especially when rushing through the map using RL or any other kind of "accelerator".
in mine opinion u hawe to litte memory, and to meny aplications runing
hmmm my english is to weak to explayn how rendering in game works but i try it
First of must understand how big deferences are betwen video maked with camera and video that was rendered frame by frame in gpu of yours vga.
Analog camera capturing light to the tape, that light moves much fastest that 25fps , and technology used to make movie are showing frames on TV more that 1/25, its 1.2/25, when 1 frame are showing on scren another one are loadet and showed sorty on frame that was showed first.
These frames are not static, try to cut in movie, on some fast speed scene, 1 frame and look that borders are mesed up, move was recordet to video.
I know that i writing crap but i dont know so advenced words
Rendering video scens by VGA, all frames are static, borders are 100% focused, and all frames are rendered solo, frame by frame are not the same, 4 all frame gpu using diferedn calculations.
Theory that tels that human eye dont see deferences abvoe 30fps are wrong, this theory was used and is part of video standards PAL and NICAM, this theory hawe nothing to do with video rendering.
Look at car moving 800km/h on analog video and look at the frames all be showing move. If that car was moving in 1sec 900m, in NTSC standard 30fps=1sec in 1sec u see 900m of ride, and 1 frame of ride be 30 meters :!: but VGA must renders 900 frames 1frame/1m to video be smoth, i know that numbers are big i do this to show clearly deferences.
Moust of games gives comfort and smoth playing at 40~60fps, but fast games like Q3 is 100 frames is this barier alos ist in unique q3 engine.
Like on LCD monitor U dont see when u playing on CMR 4.0 eny graphic problems, but in quake LCD just sucks like hell
Thats all folks =]
Oh thx hq and stollo now I get it
Like on LCD monitor U dont see when u playing on CMR 4.0 eny graphic problems, but in quake LCD just sucks like hell
Not true. I just bought a new LCD, Samsung SyncMaster 913N, and I love it. It's just beautiful. Much better than my previous normal screen and easier for eyes. I read a lot about the screens and was worried about the fact that LCD's have some problems with fast games. But with this Samsung screen there is no problems at all.
Another issue: I ask once more about the hunkmeg-problem. I have tried all sorts of settings from 56 to 512 and still I get hunkallocatempmemory -error. I don't have much of programs open (mainly Internet Explorer and Winamp) and I have 1GB of memory. Someone said I should test the memory with some weird Microsoft tester program. I tested it and there was no problem according to that program.
And still I get the hunkallocatempmem-error. I've noticed that the error comes only when there are lots of players online and it occurs only when the game is finished and people start to say "gg" and that sort of stuff. I never see the gg's chit chat, I just see the hunkallocatempmemory 141215125 error screen. Does anyone have a clue why is this happening?
I mean, I have tried all sorts of settings. I noticed that the failure comes more often if I set the com_hunkMegs to more than 128. Now I have 72 in it, and still I get it.
quake3 uses diferent comand for sound bufer..... u r serching wrong
and about LCD monitors, well in ofice hawe fujitsu 12ms and belinea 14ms mine froind 2 box to right hawe PC shop we test all monitors conting yours to, wierd that someone ppl dont see it but iven 8ms that is faster about 30% that 12ms its not inaf for quake.
Iven when LCD ben hawe reaction about 2ms i dont buy it bycose not only speed of reaction is f.. up in these monitors
-colors
-vieving angle
-not the same brightnes on scren
-scren refresh
-stick resolution
these monitors are extremaly bad for gaming, or video/picture editing
enone whos plays a bit on that monitor
knows that is 2000000% beter that enyone LCD in whole planet
my mom wona to buy an LCD to home i but it and enytime i compare mine 19" shit LG monitor to these 19" LCD im starting laf...
graphics look like s.. on these LCD..... but my mom like it much bycose its look nice on table and dont need lots of space like mine
n/c
alison what was yours old monitor meybe u r comparing two diferends prices ? ahh and yours monitor is beautiful but beter dont try to tur on it or try meake hi res graphics )))
Agree with HQ - LCD looks cool standing on the table. And thats all. Ive got a 19" PHILIPS BRILLIANCE 109P4 and will not change it to even the best LCD on this planet
All!son - if you feel comfortable playing on your new LCD and you like it in general - thats good At last its you who should be satisfied, right?
Hmmm... Id love a CRT of LCD size hehehe.

My old monitor was 19 inch Hitachi. I don't remember the model. It was about 6 or 7years old - I don't even remember how I got it. It's getting dust in my basement now. I saw LCDs in my school and they were much better for eyes. That Hitachi was killing my eyes and it is the main reason why I bought LCD.
I don't do much else than write my school stuff, use internet, listen music and play Quake on my computer. This LCD is good monitor for everything I do. I don't see "afterglow-effect" when I play Quake - not even in fastest movements/action. Only time when I believe I can see the afterglow is when I shoot something far away with bfg and jump with grenades at the same time (look the bfg shot flying from up). I believe its the "afterglow" which people talk about when they talk about the LCD and gaming. But it's really minor effect - I mean really small thing. It doesn't affect to my playing at all. I don't even see how it could affect for example to results I get. It's so small difference. And I can see it only when I shoot and jump at the same time. If some other player shoots with bfg, I don't see the afterglow.

Yes. I like it and I'm satisfied with it. It's the only which matters to me.
@stollo
Heh ...i'd rather have a plug_in_socket in my head (like in matrix), provided it isn't from M$
RS232 interface will do for my 2 braincells

I also have two. But they mostly argue with eachother.
I also have a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 913N.
Yupp, some occational ghosting when playing FPS games.
