Win XP SP3 - USB Rate Patch
In some instances, after installing Service Pack 3, the USB Poll Rate reverts back to 125hz. Unfortunately the usual USB Mouserate fixer program doesn't work with SP3.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
However, I found a very nice fix for it!
This patches the usbport.sys from "c:\windows\system32\drivers\" to poll from 125 Hz to 500 Hz.
1) Use mouserate.exe to check your current rate.
2) Use patch_vol_en.exe to patch the rate to 500hz.
3) You must restart your machine for the patch to apply.
usbmrs11 doesn't work on sp3 afaik, you can download a different app here

I've tried this twice, and it doesn't work. mouse rate is still at 125.
damn its work! thx reno.
the manual version worked for me
There is also a manual method which can be used.
1) Repace "usbport.sys" from "c:\windows\system32\drivers\"
(ensure you make a backup first)
2) Open usbmrs11.exe
USB Mouserate Switcher lets you enforce a mouse polling rate of 250 Hz (4 ms), 500 Hz (2 ms) or 1000 Hz (1 ms) and lets you restore Windows' original "usbport.sys" (8 ms) if needed.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Run this utility with admin rights (Safe Mode recommended)
