Well i do.... i dl'd the rare and replaced my excessive folder i just kept my cfg and name.cfg

so what am i doing wrong and where do the .bat file go?

It is not done with "replacing", replacing just means the new file come into the old folder, the old files which exist not in the new version stay in the folder.

Just the files as attached are relevant for 2.0a. I bet u still have pak0... etc. in ur e+ folder.

so, simply backup ur "q3config", delete e+ folder and just extract the zip into ur Quake III Arena Folder, and copy paste ur q3config back to e+ folder.

simplified method: back-up all your configs, rename the current e+ folder, make a new e+ folder for the desired version

you don't want older files mixed with the newer

i think the bat files go to where they are located when u extract them (in the right folder) just forgot if its in e+ or one folder outside (q3folder)

well, but if u rly only kept ur cfgs then u might have done everything right.
sometimes u just need to change /xp_name and/or /name to sth simple to connect, experienced that a lot in the past and also last few days with the same error msg that u had.
i think most of u know that issue Smug
