first of all is because in windows mode you wont have more fps then how the resolution of your windows is set at ... 60hz => 60 fps so the number of hz = number of fps..

and in fullscreen mode openGl runs smoother and permit you to have more frames per second, because the graphic accelerator is made to generate them faster then on the window mode with the winXP in background.. also you'll see a better fps stability in fullscreen then in window mode .. always

however .. having the fps count to like 300 fps dosnt mean that the monitor actually gets and shows 300 fps..(especially with LCDs) it only means that the graphic card is performing a frame in 1/300 parts of a second.

if you wanna see a smoother and better animation then throw lcd and buy an old CRT monitor cause it can get more hz .

p.s. i think you refered to window mode and not to minimize .. in minimize mode you dont see the window at all... xD

r_mapoverBrightbits ? i hope your graphic card didnt overloaded & dumped the textures... it might crash 1 day

i had problems with overloaded graphic card in qlive and it looks same like your screenshot.
