xp_modelscale doesn't need to be removed, just limited to 1 or 0 values (and maybe add 0.5 as well).
lemme draw the backstory of the modelscale thingy.
Modelscale was introduced in ql where they altered models to fit the normal q3 hitbox, therefor generally scaling of stuff in ql looks way off.
In E+ it was introduced with the same purpose, same as the cylindric hitboxes it shall give the opportunity to create quakelive feeling, it is limited to 0-2.
Now compared to the wallhack bug, it has way more of a crucial effect, while you needed some stuff to active the e+ integrated wallhack, which results in a perfect hack, modelscale is easy to use and FREE for everybody and therefor causes more public damage then the broken wallhack command did.
Whats the peoples problem with modelscale still being in the version?
My guess is that most people are simply mad about a command we do not need causing such a mess, while it obviously can be easy limited to 1 because there is already a max limit of 2 for it, so after all it is either remove code which takes about 5 min or change one number which takes even less, one compile and it would be done.
Sad, that this modelscale brought us so much problems

anybody knows how to fix the latched problem with xp_drawconsole? autoexec.cfg didn't work for me.
Actually it is more like that:
People are scared of an allmighty command which could give their opponents an advantage. Theoretically. But at the same time they don't want to use the command themself because it seems to give them some disadvantage.
This allmighty-autoshooting-autoaiming-autostrafejumping-wallhack command will be restricted in the next regular update. It's not a matter of recompile but to permanently make it unavailable even for normal servers (if the admin decide so), as I don't want to see only pure servers here.
It is already unavailable for ranked matches/clan wars. For the moment enjoy it or not, have some fun matches with your friends, enjoy the weather or keep endless posting and speculating about a confirmed fix for the next release.
