Antivirus, Firewalls & Spyware
In my experience, Kaspersky has been a good anti-virus program.

I'm running it on my laptop now, I have had no issues with it.

kaspersky is good antivirus, used it about 2-3 years and never had any probs, but its working slow and arent free
Nod32+Agnitum or Sygate personal firewall are a winner team... no more shits on pc installed
agnitum also for x64 systems.. not bad
avg reports viruses that are not viruses (cracks, keygens, etc.) but I guess it's alright
dont you know that most of craks keygens have tojans inside? its simple and effective way to infect PCs

yeee nod32 now we're talking thats some good shit
yes, but some don't... Avg reports EVERYTHING...
I just tried newest version of zone alarm,on skulls recommendation and i must say im pleasantly surprised. Usage is atm 28 MB and what i dont like about other firewalls is that they come in package with either an antivirus or antispyware shit or both, which even when turned off make the software heavier cause its still implemented in the software. Also had very bad experiences with comodo firewall (very bad BSOD's admitted by dev team which were later fixed, sry but its unforgivable.) Zone alarm is pure firewall, and its FREE. I dumped it since version 5 when they crapped it massively but they obviously came a long way since then. So far, thumbs up for Check Point :thumbright:

but ill do some research into wats good ones to choose an why.
But most important thing is to stop them getting into your computer in the first place.
AVG is the biggest pile of shit ever... despite daily updates it still fails as an antivir... i had a gay virus it couldnt catch for a montyh, it uses too much resources (even slows down my pc, dualcore with 2 gigs ram), it downloads paks without asking to download.
I got fed up with its shitty antics and uninstalled AVG... COS EIS STEAMING PILE OF SHIT...
AVIRA antivir on the other halfhad better features, can kill viruses (after i installed it it found 28 counts of malware/ trojan presence while AVG could only find 1 and flopped).
It also can have more complicated searches (i.e. making scan the system registry only, while you couldnt do with AVG) and actually ASKS you before installing updates and even has an option to "only download when your internet connection is idle"
so AVIRA ANTIVIR FTW
and i dont use a firewall
