i have telescope and it looks close all the time also if you know where to look and have little light polution you can also see venus, saturn and jupiter with the naked eye (not in detail, but visible)
i used to live in london and the night sky was empty because of light polution, now i live near the sea and it is dark at night and boy oh boy it looks great at times, especialy in the winter months..

who said ruins on mars.. bahahaha, hmm yeah there is a fantastic canal system too . life jim but not as we know it.

if you look at some youtube vids there are a lot of things that people have found on google earth that look like faces, pictures etc... these are mearly coincidence, but you do have the desert drawings that can only really be seen from higher altitude.

things like this.. made by the incas before the power of flight (as far as we can tell) the images are hundreds of metres across and are pretty geometricly sound..

really? i never heard this. have you any links? i thought mongolfier brothers were first, but saying that i vaguely remember the ancient chinese having some small form of balloon that used flame to power flight.
i studied archaeology and am particulary interested in what arial photography reveals about land use.
