DEFRAG anyone play?
true stifu. the reason y i didnt play defrag online was that when i was back in college, which was when i started playing q3 seriously, we could play on the lan but not on the net. firewall and stuff. but as for scripts, heh u know what i feel about them.
ill probably start defragging online after i build my computer next month and get a better net connection. maybe we could do it together.
as for cpm vs vq3 he. i know what ur saying. used to feel the same way but then i started playing more promode and now i cant stand vq3. feels like im trying to move through mud compared to the smooth flow of promode. its a personal thing tho.
edit: i learnt defrag the hard way. and thats the best way i think. spent a day trying to get across the easiest strafe pads in 1337hj. then progressed to other maps. had to figure it out entirely on my own after seeing some demos. tho dan did explain to me how to move in cpm physics and i did read his tutorial and i did pick up cpm strafing fairly fast but wouldnt have happened if i didnt have a strafing background. so if ur a total beginner to strafing better do it by yourself.
Ye... I learned it with the built in accelerationmeter. I still use it because it's just handy sometimes on really hard strafes for example. I think I know that Dan u r talking about. Do you mean THE defrag Dan or any other Dan from e+?

I think he's talking about Ti*DaN, American CPMA player.
genesis the begining
yep, me and my bro learned everything from there
well he did, i still suck
Woah, I was wondering where these hits were coming from on my website, and then I stumbled over these forums
Hey guys! What's up ratsalad and wonko?
It's true that I wrote my tutorial in more of a 'Do it now, understand later' state of mind. Why? Because I brought many of my friends to CPMa, and I was getting tired of explaining to each of them how to move properly. So I decided to write this tutorial in the exact same way I would teach it normally, using speech via VOIP.
That second tutorial is pretty good at explaining physics, but just for the "strafejumping" (airstrafing in my tutorial). Also, if you throw this tutorial to a new player, I am pretty sure he'd be like "WTF?".
As I said, I wrote this tutorial mainly for my friends, to give them a good base to start from. But since the job was done, I decided I might as well put it online to help fellow players.
Anyways, I'd be glad to add stuff to my tutorial (and maybe link to the second, more technical explanation, and other tutorials) if I actually see some demand
Peace~
holy crap! a cpma guy on e+ forums! hehehehe. hey dan. neways yea its pretty obvious that ur tut is meant for someone already familiar with strafing whod just like to clear the idea up a bit and get familiar with cpma strafing. as u know i didnt know jack about cpma strafing and i learnt it all by basically trying it out and applying the principles outlined in ur tut.
no amount of reading tutorials and watching demos will make u a good strafer.. takes more hardwork than i thought i was willing to put in and loads of patience. heh. seems to me the only activity in my life in which ive ever exercised patience is q3 strafing and tricking!
Hehehe. CPM tricking is awesome.
On that thought, I think I'm going to go and record a demo of a few tricks in the popular maps.. Something to add to my tuto.
I can't believe I missed Dan's posting here (even being subscribed to the thread cause I posted earlier ), good to see a good promode player here on the forums but I never see you in the arena I do play with nl.fuck3r sometimes (he wants to 1v1 me but I don't have the time yet
), you should join in the spammy slidey fun sometime and let me and Rat pwn you instead of the other way around like usual
btw Jer, plz come back.
I used to play defrag some years ago because I could not play online quake and I did not have other games installed on my pc .At the beggining I found it so damn strange and I couldn't even complete a single map.But I got better and I made some demos ,some really cool ones even though i did not make world record.
Thanks to defrag I learnt how to strafe and its importance I believe this mod shows the greatness of quake's nature and physics because it is the only game with all these tricks
