Do you think Quake 4 SUX ?
Quake3 :!:
Quake 3 forever :!:
Regards.
In Q3 the recipe worked perfectly. I guess that even they didn't know what worked so good in Q3 and didn't even come close with Q4. Really sad. The same with Doom3. Both games almost bored me. Nice graphics, no physics (really bad), no plot, no gameplay, no kickass guns, almost gay railgun. The same goes for Doom3. Doom3 expansion did something more but still not even close to good.
Half Life 2 kicked major ass. They knew what did right in the first one and did the same and even better in the second.
I don't think that xp in Q4 will have much hope. We'll see...
--edit--
I voted that it stinks but it's a harsh word. It just didn't come even close to my expectations.
q4 is good, but my comp stinx a bit...
Q ]I[ A 4EVER :!:
Quake 3 vor ever :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:
actualy quake 3 had the same thing going on when it first showed up.
you had to pay for it (quake 2 was "free")
everyone was used to q2, had perfectly tuned configs, knew all there is to know about it. q3 was new.
people liked the control in q2 more (mind you, a lot still do). q3 had much less control due to instant weapon respawn.
over 60% or so people couldnt run q3 the way they did q2 (arround 72 fps, for strafejumps).
all their friends were still playing q2, almost none played q3.
and so on.
i think pretty much the same will hapen to q4. it will become popular in about 2-3 years. maybe not as popular as q3 was, but definitly much much more than it is now.
hmm i think that the 3D motor on Q4 it toooo strong, you havent gamestyle in this game, i dont like Q4 same with a very strong computer .
i still must try q4 coz my pc sux
i still must try q4 coz my pc sux
Heh, i played Q4 once on my computer, and while i was very impressed with it's graphics, at the same time was disappointed with the slide show my trusty junkyard wanna-be computer performed.
I think Foksie is right, tho. Q3 was really seriously underrated when it came out, hell, the same thing was happening with Q2 too, albeit, i think in Q2's case it was less painful. Seems like the bigger the number next to the Q, the longer the game must wait until people will start appreciating it.
Most people don't have those monster computers needed to run a game like Quake IV with good FPS, foksie is right, it will probably be more popular in a few years.
