How i can switch my aspect ratio from 16:9 to the "Square mode"? [Solved]

I changed my monitor, now i have a Lg 16:9 full hd monitor 23 inches. The problem is that i found harder to play in 16:9 how i could switch this point of view to a square one? I would play fullscreen of course. Thank you!

not exactly genesis - you can't do it the way he described.
So what exactly you want to do? only change xp_aspectratio?

if u cant switch in ur monitor osd try in ur gfx drivers

r_mode -1
r_customheigh xxx - your native heigh in pixels eq. 1080
r_customwidth xxx - your native width in pixels eq. 1920
its settings for 1920 x 1080 screens. if you have 1920 x 1200 type 1200 instad of 1080
and you shuld have no black stripes.

Thank you for the answers. Actually i'm playing on a 16:9 monitor so what i see on the screen is a rectangle more larger than high. I would play maintaining the same height but less broad; not quite a square but something similar; i think i'll gonna have some black stripes vertically on both sides but i'm okay with that! I excuse myself if i'm not able to be more explicative. I also tried xp_aspectratio but nothing changed; thank you for your attention
