How To Be a PRO-player?

hmm, thinking about my expirience and all the speeks with skilled persons, i have to says its just about that u need to be a bit talented, got a basic cfg with enemymodels and nosnow, a good sensitivity for the mousepad, a mousepad wich is 20 cm high and a mouse that doesnt limit ur skills (with highsense a ballmouse losses as much traction as a g5 so...)

30% natural ability
70% dedication
100% gear, cfg, connection

natural ability and dedication is what makes the skill of the player. Skill doesnt matter much though if you cant use it because you have sucky gear. For those that say that gear or cfg dont matter, try to use someone elses cfg without changing binds, a joystick instead of a mouse and a 19.2 modem... Sure its taking it to the extreme but the idea is the same

To be able to use your skill to 100% you need a good connection, a great config tuned to your playstyle and good gear.

So, good gear, config and connection cant make you a better player, it can make you play at the top of your skill though.

As an example, I am trying to play the guitar. I recently bought myself a Gibson Les Paul, for those that doesnt know that is a very nice guitar. The Les Paul wont make me a better player, BUT playing badly on a Les Paul still sounds better than playing badly on a $100 Strata replica. As with Q3, If I am gonna suck, its gonna be because *I* suck, not my equipment (connection, cfg and so on)

Nah I agree with Ratz. It's the willpower and dedication that makes you improve

After trying many mice and a few mats, I find in reality they don’t make enough real difference, there are people who still play with a ball mouse effectively (firefox) unless she finally upgraded.

With mice I find the only real important factor is low friction, if you can move it well it will be ok. I gave up using a mat ages ago and use it straight on the desk, as my g5’s laser tracks worse on the mouse mat han my old Intel explorer mouse, again no real differences, just a quick “feel” adjustment.

cfg does matter of course, but beyond getting the weapon buttons in the right place and a few basic tweaks, I don’t think there is any magic changes that will actually improve your game by percentages...unless some one wants to prove me wrong and show me a good cfg Winking

Natural ability...hmm not sure, most people that come to e+ seem to get pretty good, just some quicker than others, sure natural ability is there but again its going to make you good without the practice, it will just take you less time to get to a given standard.

For me by far and away the biggest deciding factor is connection. With a good connection im in the 70' s eff and rail acc 40's and when its bad its half that.

I would play with a £5 mouse, 14 in monitor and no graphics tweaks in the cfg every day of the week for a consistent connection than enabled me to play properly.

No it isn't. How many players, exactly, play with a joystick, on a 19.2 modem? Come on. If you cut a player's hand off he won't play good anymore too. Ability to adapt is also a skill, btw. Tongue

1. knowledge 40% (knowledge about map, trick to suprise enemy, spawnpoints, where to go when u hering enemy and u want fool him by shoting few times and going throght deferent enter, waiting on enemy mistake based of prediction of his movement, how to bahave in difucult sytuations, how to kep cool blod, ability to control emotions, how to bost players morale, where camp, where u should not stand)

2. mouse feel 20% (there is somthing in game control wich allow u to know yours mouse so well that u are able to make fast turn and aim enemy in fly without iven stoping draging the mouse or u will stop the crosshair on enemy in nanoseconds only hering him under yors back withnout seing him, u move realy smothly through map withnout hiting wall, u almoust do fell game on yors mouse when ping slowing yors movement, jumped and losed speed, when u do have speed bust after good strafe, what move u need to change yors direction ect ect, u dont aim u drag mouse and shot in same time and hit enemy couse u know how u should move mouse to a location u should move)

3. predict aiming 20% (loking on a enemy trajectory puling bfg in place where he will hit a wall after grenade move, aiming based only on what u hear eg. u heard sound of bfg shot and the enemy will propably jump of out of location so u do move mouse to position where he will be propably after his move, u do know where the enemy is and what propably he will do u can prepare yors location and where u should aim)

4. good sound localising 20% (shothing to enemies whithout seeing them, heard only buzz of thier rail or thier steps and was able to feel how fast he move how far away he is, shothing before u seen him the few milisecond sooner, localising enemy movement from where to where he is moving and how fast only from sound and adjusting position to enemy basing on thier location)

rest of things are marginal, but u should not allow a sytuation that a hardware become limiting u

config is important, it gives u around 50-100ms faster reaction, couse u will see quicker bright enemy, but its start to be important when u do face realy hard enemies whos move quick and camp through tiny free spaces

the mousepad, mouse, monitor, headphones, how u sit infront monitor and table are important they bost up yors potential, but wont make out of u good player if u had best toys and suck ass in game
