in search of a MX 518 1600 dpi
I've
got but nn is for sale: P
Most stores have changed to rev 3 version. Best bet would be to keep track of amazon / ebay if you want a new rev 1.
Rev3 suffers from some restriction, especially in use with some logitech drivers - It will have much lower max speed witch in some points can cause neg accel. Also some traits of the mouse have changed slightly with rev3, for better or worse - Up to each owner.
I wouldnt use drivers to emulate 1600 dpi on a 1800 dpi mouse, rather change sens ingame.
Also I recognize your problem finding sens for rev 3: The calculated sens that should equall the same sens really doesnt feel anything like it. Best bet would be to set it aproximately close by feel and just stick with it.
You say your mouse is dying? = Random shutdowns and really weird behaviur? If so I would say its the standard x5xx series fault: To much stress on cable coming out of the mouse - You can check by twiching cable and see if it turns off (Red diode turns off).
Possible Solutions:
Replace cable or cut of the first part of it and resoilder it on connector pin. I've done so many times successfully. If you don't have any means for this yourself, I'm sure a local electronic firm/radio shop can do so for a quid or two.
Contact logitecht, its one of the better companies regarding long guartiees and service. Its pretty painless to get a new mx (Although they will ship rev 3, but hey - You atleast get a new mouse.)
Cheers and gl /L.
we have the same problem, hope we gonna find new one with 1600 also : p

those i think are generally german sites
u can replace the v1 cable with the one of the v3 if u are really lazybum, it even prolly is a plug type cable unlike cheap mice who got it soldered.
Skull is indeed correct, just plug n play.
All you need to do is remove the glidz on top and bottom at rev 3 to find the screws.
On rev 1 its under the stickers topp/bottom.
tecstore only got the 1800 dpi
im waiting for an early reply of the first link...
Im sorry to hear that, would be nice if to find a 1600 somewhere, but looks like it will be hard to find...
@Laktos

maybe ill tryit if i cant find any 1600...
Thanks again...
