excuse me madam, but i can see tfts at 60 hz unsmooth and crts unsmooth on anything below 85 hz, same goes for com_maxfps below 100.

Try to disable sync to every frame in drivers coz its results in prerendering limit and leads to unsmooth in play

u are kidding me.

You mean me? Big grin

I'd have to say I need to look into all options with vsync and prerendering, I once had Dementor look over my cfg and fix stuff to make it smooth for this shitty hardware Thinking but lost those settings long ago, I know little about the hardware.

I just know it suckz0rz and is hard to get steady high framerate.

FYI guys. i945 extreme onboard vga adapter for example is enough for smooth play quake with r_mode 6 high details and up to 86fps . So stop giving a bullshit, just learn into intel OpenGL mode (what? u forgot to install intel drivers?) and switch over your game copy from SW rendering mode (ooops? ever heard of game options?) otherwise fix yo windows due to it lost its bundled OGL dll's and stop drain brains forum ppl such type shitty probs.

Very kind. But just under the condition that every human being on the whole earth has some basic knowledge about such things.

from personal experience and in a SIMPLE explanation, the only thing framesynch does is take a decent hit to your FPS on shitty hardware and on decent hardware it gives you gameplay a very fake and hesitant feel. It obviously does SOMETHING useful if you do need that option but if you want gameplay, keep it off imo.

in regards to other in-game options to maximize FPS

[code:1]xp_noSnow "1"
r_fastsky "1"
[/code:1]

But i am sure you have those disabled already.

True. But most important cvars while you are in tune up about light model. These sets are more effective when we talking about performance. Touch this:
[code:1]r_dynamiclight "0"
r_vertexLight "1"
[/code:1]

And what you just said is at the second turn only. Also pls dont forget about shadows (another side of engine's light ) Make it as blobs [code:1]cg_shadows "1"[/code:1] or disable at all [code:1]cg_shadows "0"[/code:1] The third are the all things regarding geometric complexity etc...

i didn't touch those because 1.) people usually turn off dynamic lighting to begin with, 2.) people don't usually use vertex lighting because its straight ugly unless you are running on a pentium 1 and need the performance. Vertex is an eyesore
Shadows will not really make a difference, never did for me in quake 3
they aren't detailed enough

to add to that, ejecting brass and wall marks are complete hogs as well (though not as much, and are limited), and uselss.
