ioquake and excessive plus
Hello,
I'm having trouble with excessive-plus mod running under ioquake. I can't play with bots in singleplayer, it says "Please download full mod at www.excessiveplus.net" and on some servers it says there are missing files and automatically it downloads them (pak0.pk3,pak3.pk3) but very slowly.
I'm just asking if it was normal? or a bug?
OS: FreeBSD
ioquake version: ioq3 1.36 freebsd-i386 Feb 21 2010
e+ version: 2.0a
cl_allowdownload 1 and connect to a 2.0a server then the files you need are downloaded and you can play singleplayer, atleast that works under MAC and WIN
you have e+ 2.0a or 2.0a for OpenArena?
/rate 25000
/snaps 125
/cl_maxpackets 125
here you go lol put into excessiveplus folder
You don't need those files to play on single player. In fact, you don't need those files to play on any server at all, they are automatically downloaded because they are on the server to support pure 1.03 clients (btw, i really regret when i suggested that to server owners, now those useless files are pushed to clients on those servers when autodownload is on, and causes problems when connecting to pure servers that don't have those pk3s). So my suggestion is to turn off autodownload and download the custom maps you need using the site spider (place the pk3s under ~/.q3a/baseq3/ folder).
That message appears because there isn't a freebsd server binary in the current e+ distribution and i don't think it will load linux binaries, so your only bet is to play online.
a bit of OT
ioquake => io <3 quake
btw I'm using ioquake.exe + e+2.0a but looks like it's not compatibility (sounds problem, sometime can't type anything in chat and others), so I just watching for own servers.
ioquake indeed have many advantages (especially for quake server)
hmm ok, but 2kb/sec, 1hour for about ten MB... that sucks
can Anyone upload thoses files please ?
