Or rather, one lamer.

---

What are lamers? I can bet each and every one of us will have his own definition of these persons. Maybe i'll bring up mine here to make things i'll say later more clear.

For me a q3 E+ lamer is

1. User of weapon switching scripts
2. Heavy power-ups abuser
3. Heavy camper (both "normal" and spawn)
4. Team-shooter (not counting accidents and situations where i myself run into a projectile)
5. A guy who is pissed and is playing weird (like running around with fire pressed at all times on while having rail selected)
6. A guy who dosen't thaw other people on purpose

That pretty much sums up my own personal definition. I intentionally left out cheating, coz it goes beyond being lame for me.

Cutting to the chase - XP*Aliminium does all the things i mentioned above, save maybe for points 2 and 4. As much as i think he's a good person who gives nice ideas here on the boards, he's a lame player.

The reason i post this in public and not in a pm sent to him is because i'm 100% certain that if i'd do that he'd either ignore me, flame me or laugh at me. Another reason is i want to induce some kind of pressure upon him to stop doing these things, because it destroys other peoples fun. I know it destroyed mine yesterday night when i was stuck with him in the team. Thinking

He justified it by saying "on cw's everyone does that", to which another player replied "cw's and public games are two totally different things", with which i absolutely agree. On cw's everything goes, each teams wants to get that another precious point, so u use all kinds of dirty tricks to achieve that. But in public games it's all about having fun, and such behaviour is everything but fun to all, maybe except him.

I mean, i can accept a guy standing still for a few seconds coz he heard footsteps, or a guy sitting near YA bouncepad on dm7 to check his surroundings out, that's not camping to me. But Ali camps in one place sometimes as long as few minutes. I can understand if a player will circle around a spawn spot because he happened to be nearby it, i do that sometimes too. But sitting still near a cluster of them hidden behind an obstruction each and every round? NO. Evil And i said what i think about weapon switch scripts on several different occasions, i don't wanna repeat myself.

I know for a fact that there are other ppl who think about this case exactly like me, but i don't wanna bring their names up. They check out this forum oftenly, and will voice their opinions by themselves if wanna support me.

Why do i post it in General Discussion? Because i think Ali is giving a bad example, and it can affect the more inexperienced (not to say nooby) players. They see Ali and think "Hey, if a guy from a recognized clan can do that, why can't i?" And then we get games on public turn into a camp festival. Love struck

Anyways, i urge all to fight with this gaming style at all times. That's all i wanted to say.

I'm sorry, but something had to be said. It slowly turns out to be a serious problem for me, i cannot just ignore it. I hope people will discuss this issue in a civilized manner, without personal flames.

Just on a side note, i have ABSOLUTELY nothing against Ali as a person, but as a player i'm pretty much disgusted with his style.

mad I’m pretty sure this will turn into a big flame thread Confused your points are valid, but because you target 1 person it feels maybe unbalanced maybe you should have not named anyone, so it could be talked about openly.

ill leave it for now but if it stats to get too flamey ill lock ok ?

Well, i know a few other people that like to "set up the tent" once in a while (me included, on rare occasions, i won't deny) but nothing as heavy. Thru each point i mentioned i could bring a couple of examples, but i'm afraid Ali is the only one i recognize who is active in bro community that combines several of the issues i touched earlier, unless we wanna talk about some fourth league US noobs who can't tell a rl from a staircase.

And i brought Ali's name exactly because he's a well known and recognized guy. See the line about bad examples.

I have no prob with locking this thread if things get out of hand, i only care about my point being sent across.

There are worse campers in E+. Some of them are well-respected players. Big grin

  • NVidia GeForce 8400GS

  • Logitech MX510

  • Hyperglide Teflon Skates

  • Steelpad QcK+

  • iHome IH-K200MB

  • SB Live! 5.1 Platinum

  • Logitech Precision Gaming Headphones

  • Insignia 32" HDTV

I seriously doubt that (at least not in the european part of the community) Tongue Besides, it's not only about camping, it's about a combination of several separate but equally annoying and cheap factors. Open your eyes, people, we need to fight with such gaming style :!:

answers

1. it doesnt matter how fast somebody changes weapons, there is always a 1.1sec delay time before you can fire and its all about aim not switchspeed
2. these are implemented in q3 to be used...as many times as they appear (some servers have them disabled, if u dont like it go play there)
3. if they camp, speed into the room and get them from behind..if u cant do this then ur a simple crybaby who cant solve problems to other peoples tactical play
4. no answer to this really, except turn FF on and the 'lamer' wont see you fly across the map (which is the only amusing reason they would do it in the first place)
5. there are some of these in e+ but it doesn't mean that they are lamers...if he is 'spamming' then he should be predictable and easy to dodge
6.a delibrately not thawing can be to check the area of further enemies e.g 1v1 situation in freeze...the enemy could be camping the body of your teammate and if you attempt to thaw, he/she shoots you easily
6.b i can understand that if in a cw if a teammate does this then he should be kicked...but on public, you have to understand that some people want to improve and looking for the head2head action is the way that you learn to deal with the pressure situations

i dont mean to attack you in any way mad, but to me this thread seems lame that i can think of these obvious answers straight off the top of my hand... pls think b4 u post Winking

Oh, i thought long and hard before i posted. All your points are true... to cw's!

I should think there are some, let's call them, standards of decency in everyday online gaming on public servers. I didnt set them, people in general did. Now, abusing these unwritten rules is no crime, but it takes the fun away, at least for me. I dunno, maybe it dosen't bother YOU when you sit frozen for three minutes every round on a big map, just because the last man standing in your team happens to go fishing in a remote and well hidden place on the map. Now, to answer your points -

1. N-o-t t-r-u-e. I've seen it work, and let me tell you, Ali squishes maximum juices from that script. I'll agree that on servers with high switch-time it dosen't work quite good... btw, ever wondered why he didn't show up more often on Mr. servers back when they still run the old bro cfg's with a very slow switch time... ?

2. Yes. Still, i find it cheap to grap quad, haste and go on a shotgun spree. I won't call ppl lamers for doing that, but it IS lame for me.

3. I didnt ever cried coz i was killed by a camper, and i don't intend to start now. See what i wrote above about camping, THAT is lame for me.

4. Yeah, turn FF on... as if i had rcon for every server out there

5. What if he is on your team and he makes your team lose coz of that?

6. No, both are wrong. One enemy, which is half the map away, Ali turns to look at my frozen carcass, and then strolls away. GG.

about 4. you could always ask mow for an admin trial for 2!S servers, you're one of the most active players there Happy

about 6. how do you know ali isn't doing one of my above points (6a. or 6b.)? think tactically man not just about "i should be thawed instantly!" afterall tdm is a faster gametype if you're bothered about waiting 3mins Tongue

all your other points seem to stand pretty strong...but when you stop worrying about these lamers and just look for a way to counteract their lameness, is when you begin to have fun Happy

4. Lol yeah, i might just do that Tongue (j/k, i doubt Mow would ever consider giving me any rights at all on his servers)

6. Check out the attached screen.. do you see Ali have one single thaw? I think not thawing either me or the other dude even once (believe me when i say he had many occasions to do so) is pretty much intentional malice, i would say.
