Currently I have a map saved in GTKradiant 1.4.0 Q3RTCWET called test (The GTK Verisons Have been updated since v 1.02 and even after uninstalling and reinstalling just 1.4.0 I still have this problem)

I realize that the .map files and all other files have to be lower cased letters for quake to recognize it, and right now its a .map file for GTK to recognize. However when I enter the bsp menu to use BSP Full Vis Or Fast Vis as the tutorials say, I do not find either of those, I only find the following:

Q3Map2: (simulate old style -light -extra) BSO -meta, -vis, -light -super2
Q3Map2: (final) BSP -meta, -vis, -light -filter -super 2 -bounce 8
Q3Map2: (final) BSP -meta, -vis, -light -filter -super 2
Q3Map2: (test) BSP -meta, -vis, -fast, -light -fast -super 2 filter
Q3Map2: (test) BSP -meta, -vis, -light -fast -filter
Q3Map2: (single) -light -fast -super 2 -filter -bounce 8
Q3Map2: (single) -light -fast -super 2 -filter
Q3Map2: (single) -light -fast -super 2
Q3Map2: (single test) -light -fast
Q3Map2: (single test) -light -faster
Q3Map2: (singel test) -vis -fast
Q3Map2: (single) -vis
Q3Map2: (single) BSP -meta

When I use Q3Map2: (singel test) -vis -fast This is what the command says:

Gtk-CRITICAL **: file gtkwindow.c: line 2973 (gtk_window_resize): assertion `height > 0' failed

The bsp isnt there and Im not sure why or how it is even created. It worked once but it was a long time ago and on a different computer. I just want to know how the bsp file creates and I can start up quake and play it. Currently if I try to open the map in quake it says:

No such file test.bsp

I dont know how to get my map to work any suggestions??? Thinking:

I have but one more question... Once I've edited part of the map and I want to test it again, I use the BSP (test)- meta -vis light fast filter, but it takes quite a long time. When I use the -fast -vis sometimes it doesnt make the corrections I've edited. I always save it before compiling with the bsp commands, just wondering if there's something faster....

for "poly-testing" a map u dont need vis light and stuff Surprise

for testing check the compiling option Q3Map2: (single) BSP -meta in your radiant, it goes fast and the whole map is lightened with maplight ... when u put in the lightnings later ... then u can put in para's like -vis, -light -fast -filter ... but how said for testing basic map its not needet.

Sure for endcompiling map i would prefer the q3map3 addon where u can put in ur own parameters ... and that are much more xD ... i really dont know all of them, havent mapped a long time, but i can give u link where u see most of available parameters ... but the explanation's are in german Happy

Q3Map2-parameters

... There is in option in the settings of radiant which allows u to see compiling process when it compiles in the little logcase ... check it out Happy

Started working on my map again after taking maybe four days off to do other important things, and when I now use Bsp -meta or -light -fast to just test the map it comes up with this:

Failed to execute the following command: "E:/Programs/Quake III Arena/q3map2" -connect 127.0.0.1:39000 -game quake3 -fs_basepath "e:/Programs/Quake III Arena/" -vis "E:/Programs/Quake III Arena/BaseQ3/maps/aim_map2.map"
Check that the file exists and that you don't run out of system resources.

any help there?

Nope the aim_map2.map file doesnt exist, but I have a bigmap.map (the same thing just renamed it because of this problem) and it comes up with this:

Failed to execute the following command: "E:/Programs/Quake III Arena/q3map2" -v -connect 127.0.0.1:39000 -game quake3 -fs_basepath "e:/Programs/Quake III Arena/" -meta "E:/Programs/Quake III Arena/BaseQ3/maps/bigmap.map"
Check that the file exists and that you don't run out of system resources.

So that port is also the same, but Im not sure why its trying to connect to 127.... it started doing this after I scanned my computer for viruses with zone alarm and svg anti spyware but I doubt that has anything to do with it so Im a little stuck here....

Here's something interesting also... When I open up quake III arena (e+) I can still map to bigmap.bsp or aim_map2.bsp (I don't have to add the bsp to map it) And it is the way it was before these problems started happening....
