Well we still don't know what he said to him. If zidane was "clean" (that means it was heavy insult) then he would come right forward with it, i think. The waiting makes me suspicious...

Ive just heard the news on tv and they say lip readers studied the phootage and they have 2 versions:
1. He called Zidane a son of a terorist whore [btw his mother died when he was 14-15]
2. He called his sister a prostitute
The mroe likely version is no.1,and materazzi replied in a really lame way:
"I dont know what is terrorism" (???)

Yeah, makes you wonder who behaved like an asshole there... Its only fair if Materazzi will be somehow punished for his behaviour.

My information is that Materazzi's mother died when he was young, not Zidane's. Here's a fairly comprehensive article on the matter. The German article has a bit more information and states (I've translated this bit):

it is not the first act of zidane in that way, 2 or 4 years ago, in CL, he headnuted a player from "Werder Bremen" after a lil foul (real lil foul), he has earned the red card. a pro like him should know it better. whatever the insult was, a true man says "lets go out and clear this". it was his last game on a wc. (i will have many games on wc - 00) 
and the price for his act, was maybe the victory.
