Rage patched and rocks (for me)
I would buy the same processor you have, but is it more powerful than a AMD A8 Quad-core APU? I just discovered those types of processsors, specially built for gpu processing.
I have two Seagate Barracuda XT 2To linked with RAID 0 for personnal data. I'll try to install Rage on it. The shit thing is that my Rage version must have Steam installed
I compared AMD A8-3850 with Phenom II x6 1100T BE and the last had better results so I ordered it.
I'll tell you the changes after installed it on my HDD.
Is the multiplayer any fun ?
For the bug with ATI GPUs, where tha game is freezing every 3 seconds.
All right, after 3 days of nightmare I have found the solution (I didn't make it, translated from french from http://www.jeuxvideo.com/forums/1-7-9518499-1-0-1-0-rage-surcharge-cpu.htm). For everyone who has a ATI and a dual-core processor, the processor would'nt be able to process all calculations about graphics surface optimization. That's why you need to disable AT ALL the Catalyst AI in Catalyst Control Center (or AMD Engine Control Center). Proceed like it follows :
1-http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/GPU122AMDCat1110PreDriverV2.aspx Install this patch.
2-Go to "C:\User\******(your PC name)\AppData (if you dont see it, be sure to checked the "visible hidden files" option : Alt > Tools > Folders options > Display > Check "display hidden files, folders or hidden drives)\Local\ATI\ACE\Profiles\"
3-Now you find this folder, "Ctrl+Alt+Suppr " for the Task Manager and kill "CCC.exe" and "MOM.exe".
4-Back to the folder "Profiles" then Right-Click > Modify with Notepad.
5- "Ctrl+F" for searching "CatalystAI", you'll be sent there :
<Feature name="CatalystAI">
<Property name="CatalystAI" value="Enable" />
Modifiez value="Enable" /> en value="Disable" />
//Put the value "disable" :
<Feature name="CatalystAI">
<Property name="CatalystAI" value="Disable" />
6-"Ctrl+S" for saving (If it show you "Save as", the file "Profiles" is read-only so Right click > Properties > Uncheck "Read-only"). Now you saved the file, go to Right-Click > Propertiesand check this time "Read-only" (this is very important), close it and launch the Catalyst Control Center.exe (Right-Click on the Desktop or check the Taskbar), go to Games > Applications 3D settings > be sure Catalyst AI is desactivated and "Activate format surface optimization" unchecked. Apply.
7-Launch the game, instead of basics few textures bugs, it will be at 60fps stable and smooth.
My configuration :
ATI ASUS Radeon 6950 HD
AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE
4GB Kingston Hyper-X 1800 Mhz
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bits
You'll be able to enable Catalyst AI when you'll have bought a quad-core cpu (I'll received a AMD Phenom II x6 BE tomorrow, I'll tell you what's new).
what are the minimal pc spec to play that one?
i own a x2 64 3200MHz with 4GB of 800Hz DDR2 memory where gfx is hd4850, is there a sense to download it at all?
10-20fps unplayable, textures reloading all the time, and there is no video configuration at all so i cannot adjust anything
also the mouse have probably the same shitty filtering like in bioshock where i couldn't use a menu because it was filtering mouse thick's and mouse were not moving unless i moved the mouse quite fast, but then aiming the menu items was like playing arcade game... in rage i can't do a shit in my inventory because of that crap "feature"
aside the minimum settings of sensitivity was still to fast for me...

seems no point for me to donwload it at all :}}}
strange fala, i got a intel e5400 2,7 ghz, 2 gb ddr2-800, radeon 4850 1gb ddr3, stock cpu fan and stock psu (so forget 100% performance),wind 7 x86 (32 bit), i play crysis 2, duke nukem forever and fear 3 all of them at max detail, only AA disabled and shadows on minimum, can't say i play over 50 fps but i play perfectly n the games go fluid n playable. or i have a wrong idea of the word "fluid" or this rage is really the new brother of crysis for this year. anyway, i think i'll give it a try.
OH, well, bulldozer is not released yet. I would w8 for it anyway. Do u have a normal hdd, you can test first (i mean NO ssd).
