this should be theoretically possible, but is there a practical problem?
unlagged technology.
with unlagged your computer doesnt really care where the enemy is if you dont see him.
so packets with enemy location, or item location for that matter, are often skipped. it makes a really "here now, gone the next" kind of situation that causing me some problems with camming. and makes other player PoV impossible without some extra tools.
because if the answer to the first question is yes...then it shouldnt matter where ur recreating things from..doesnt matter if you are doing it from a players pov or from some random point in the map....in that case u should be able to recam to a random point or whatever way u wish...
you can with q3mme, but you will notice items, and players other than you, dissapearing occasionaly, when your computer misses a packet or something (my connection does that often)
however in cpma which does have mvd u can only record mvd if ur spectating...im not sure y this is so and im pretty sure the answer will have something to do with the whole recreating/rendering issue...so i guess ill find out....
i think its to avoid having a handy wallhack. if your computer is reciving data about others PoV, you can intercept that and it would be undetectable (almost).

bs in normal no unlagged mods like osp is this same systuation. Why, cuz stupid will be send information about all enamys when they are eg on other end map like u (eg. u r on dm11 in rocket arena and second ppl is on quad)
q3 movie makers edition
Everytime i run it i get "Could not load openGL subsystem". I know i am doing something really wrong but i am not in any mood to search. If someone knows what causes that, some help would be nice.

about issues with q3mme:
1. grenade explosions tend to turn into ugly gray squares.
fix: include the first 10 - 20 seconds of the start of the map into your projects, the glith dissapears then.
2. after a few minutes all client data is lost.
fox: use \clientoverride to force clients to have info.
while i had net i was extensivly talking to Canabis, author of q3mme about having e+ issues fixed in next release. hopefuly ill get to talk him into doing that when i get my net back

hmm i have a problem on Q3mme, problem about the blood and gibs, when someone get killed by rail or rocket the blood disapear fast and the gibs is ejected around of the map. i think it a bug but i saw on foksie clips that there is not this bug ? did u used the version before 1.52 ? how u fixed it ? just gg for ur clips

Get q3sdc and load the demo you want. Re-record the part you want using these guidelines. Then load the re-recorded part of your demo with q3mme and gibs, characters etc seem to be fixed

foksie..yea i found most of that out..the stuff in my earlier post...if u dont use a tool like sdc to RECORD the demo (which u can do only if ur running quake through sdc on the game server and only if ur spectating) quake records only the stuff in the map in your immediate vicinity...(same goes for MVD's in cpma)
second i dont think the players disappearing in the middle of the damn demo is because of packet loss...im pretty sure quake will take packet loss into account and reconstruct or extrapolate the positions..also ull notice that the disappearance doesnt happen when u play the demo in e+ and do third person cams....also if u check out cpma demos with same kinda ping it doesnt happen..i think its probly cos of compatibility issues between defrag (or whatever tool ur using) and e+ demos....
neways i havent tried mme yet but will try it...have you really tried it yet? if yes id like to hear about what its like and what the issues u had with it are...
however what i am wondering about is this..i presume that sdc and defrag and mme and other recam tools basically reconstruct the cam pov from the data that quake does record..so basically you should still be able to do SOME recams (constrained on the actual data recorded...not sure if we can quantify this but it should be possible).....so basically im wondering if we can't adapt the thing for e+...infact i dont understand y if recamming cpma demos works in sdc..y it doesnt work for e+....ill ask around about what the mods demo issues are....
also heard something called the kroma recam tool (from the shaolin productions mercurial movie)....will try to find out what that is...
edit: phooeey it actually runs e+ demos properly...lol...k..now ill try other stuff like recams and enemy skins etc etc and see if they work......
edit2: @tar....problem is with the q3config file in ur mme folder probably..so get another q3config file and replace the one in ur mme folder with the new one..it should work (btw there exists this crazy little website called GOOGLE! lol jk)
