Sensitivity & mouseaccel
sensitivity 150 ^^ and accel 0
i prefer to play without mouseaccel because it makes my aim bad.. but everyone has to try out what the best for him is.
as already said, to say the pure values of the sensitivity and accel does not show anything.
since i red in this forum of these commands (dunno anymore in which topic):
"set m_pitch 0.0011"
"set m_yaw 0.0011"
i use them because it makes the mousemovement very smooth.
but if you use it you have to increase your sensitivity by about 100 or more.
Good topic. I asked for a long time which sense/acc is the best for me, but i was never satisfied. when i met zyzio from k[] yesterday he told me that there are m_pitch and m_yaw...ive tried around a bit today and realized that these two are really better than using acceleration. try them.
but of course its allways a question of personal taste and habits
btw im using sense 1.5 pitch and yaw 0.08 at the moment, but it propably will be different tommorow
Just a brief explanation for those who are not familiar with these 2 cvars:
m_yaw and m_pitch are both important cvars. Their set value effectively is the multiplier which (in conjunction with the general sensitivity cvar value) is used by q3 to set the sensitivity on the horixontal X-axis and vertical Y-axis. m_yaw sets the horizontal sensitivity and m_pitch sets the vertical one. As these cvars constitute the multipliers for the general sensitivity cvar value, u can lower these and increase the sensitivity value and vice versa (as Cookie said above). Personally, i wouldnt use very different values for these cvars as this could make the game very frustrating. Extreme settings will not help u i think :roll:
Also dont forget that as with the general sensitivity and accel cvars, numbers other ppl tell u mean NOTHING for the reasons i explained in my previous post above. You should only use the 'distance method'

BM
Thanks for that explanation, I've always wondered what that is. I'm currently getting used to playing at lower sensitivity and my aim has improved dramatically. I think I will experiment around some more, as I am not yet completely satisfied. I want to continue to drop the sensitivity for more accuracy, but I don't enjoy having to move my mouse from one end of the desk to the other just to turn, so I'll need to play around with mouseaccel.

Wrong, this does again depends of what mouse, settings in win, mousepad, mouseskatez.. whatever....
@2000dpi:
I have m_pitch 0.0011 and m_yaw 0.0011 and i use 0.5 in sens and no accell at all.. and i need 54 cm to turn 360*, but i change rapidly cause i never get satisfied.
Lowering sensitivity can be effective but theres always a point where ur movement becomes just too slow. This means that u can be extremely accurate with very low sens but this wont help u very much in excessive cuz enemies move too fast, fly around and weapons are very powerful. A good mid/high-sens player will frag u with one bfg shot (example) before u even turn around with your low sens. Adding some accel might help u move faster but will hurt your accuracy big time in excessive. I think very low sens is more suitable for games like counter strike and unreal tournament. Only in a few situations u can use very low sens effectively in excessive.
btw u guys should also try the "m_filter" cvar (valid values: 0-3). You may find it interesting
i use 400dpi and 1000hz on my copperhead.
its really smooth
Why only 400dpi? It can go up to 2000dpi (using 1600dpi with my Diamondback).
im not fast sens player my sens is 2,3 dunno no accel

e5 and bro (concentrated on rail) are kinda another worlds :}
[code:1]m_filter "1"
m_side "0.25"
m_forward "0.25"
m_yaw "0.0011"
m_pitch "0.0011"
sensitivity "96"
cl_mouseaccel "0" (i'm using accel from system drivers, it has another better feel than cl_mouseaccel for me)
[/code:1]
this is how looks crazy highsenser's cfg :}
