Server Kicks for Unpure
Hey mow, I've got a question...
about a month ago (when the FTP-map sharing e+ project was open...), I downloaded this map (chronic)...
It came with 2 bot files, and 2 player-skins as well (an unwanted extra )
Is the general rule same as with most files on a purte server (i.e if its not on the server, then i will be rejected an unpure client)... or do those qualify as "allowed" files like such as the map ones?
in most cases models and bots have extra scripts.
pure kicks for pk3's that have extra scripts in it, because those might contain cheats.
quite some models have them, maps rarely do (some defrag maps do).
u get kicked, if those scripts or whatever have effect on the originial pk3 files. If u join a already pure server, ur q3 is simply not able to load these scripts or whatever.
I have a few hundred maps in my baseq also tons of defrag maps etc, i can join each pure server as long the server is pure when i connect. The problem is mostly if u are on a unpure server and admin makes it pure while u r on it. I have also many custom models and and custom weaponmodels. I can join the pure server, the models simply wont get loaded, but if the server is unpure, and admin makes it pure while u are on, u will be kicked.
basically someone is just unpure, if he have modified pak0-pak8 of q3.

if people join a unpure server, they load all files like weaponmodels, etc. So, they are loaded, so, if u set pure in middle of game, they have also their legal stuff loaded, like weaponmodels, custommodels etc. Because the stuff is loaded, they get kicked. In this second they are unpure.
But if they leave q3 and than reconnect, than they can play again on that PURE server, because they are not able to load that pk3 (models for example). So, no load, no kick.
SO, people get kicked for unpure client, because u enable pure while they are online.
In some kind it sounds very logical yes but i have to disagree here anyway ... because my experience is that when sv_pure is enabled via console when server is already up (so not defined in server.cfg) ... then ppl get kicked ... when they try to reconnect the same happens, and also when they restart their quake, they still got kicked.
I dont know why but i tested it arround 2 times on cw's and fw's and 80% of ppl have had this problem ... me personally got no problems with it but how said near all ppl get kicked, doesnt matter if they reconnect.

PPS: if u run a non pure Server , and u turn it to pure with /rcon sv_pure 1 , all players will be kicked including , you..regardless of how "pure you are" , you need to rotate server before it becomes pure and it doesnt kick players. (cause pure setting is latched like g_gametype)after rotation players can connect back.

i keep getting this error message when i enable pb on the server..
ive tried pb_sv_update but it didnt work.. help!
might be that pb cant connect to evenbalance... tried tweaking firewall?
