Hi everyone!

Anyone has already one of those 120 Hz LCDs ? If yes, I have some questions about it.

1-Here http://www.nvidia.fr/object/3d-vision-requirements-fr.html
At the bottom of this page, they say that Acer GD245HQ for example, works only with some gpus (and NVidia gpus, whereas I have ATI HD 6950), right or wrong?

2-To enable 120 Hz display refresh in Q3, its just \r_displayRefresh 120 ?

3-120 HZ works in windows desktop?

4-What is the "mura" effect?

5- Would you prefer to keep a 1920x1200 28" with 60 Hz? (if you was playing with fov 130 like me)

6-Which are the best 120 Hz LCDs except the GD245HQ for you?

7-The difference between 60 Hz and 120 Hz is really visible?

Acer GD245HQ : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgtUqpaZzPs

Thanks for answering all those questions!

You cant use nVidia 3D vision on ATI graphic card. You have to use it with GeForce 8 series or newer GeForce card + buy 120Hz LCD display + buy nVidia 3D vision kit with emitter. You dont need to change anything in cfg. Graphic driver counts final scene from two angles (one for left eye and second for right eye). Iam not sure if q3a is supported by this technology. As far i know AMD presents on new graphic cards AMD HD3D technology. I dont know how it works. try to find some informations about it if you dont want to buy GeForce card.

Nothing can compare to CRT for motion.

Re: Some questions about 120 Hz LCDs.

it depends if those 120hz are made for 3d or general use.

Since the only marketing reason they have for 120 is 3d they are ofc saying that their product just works with their specific 3d settings.

I bet on the monitor being capable of 120 hz even on ati, since signal input and signal output of both, lcd and gfx are stone age standards. Only thing you have to care about is if your gfx can do so many hz on the resolution.

You won't be able to run 3d on a nvidia specifed monitor with an ati card imo.

(ps: all of this is subjective)

Ok.
@Gangster : Buying on of those LCDs is just for performance, for the high display refresh, that can chill my eyes all the time I'll watch my monitor and the fact that It will increase my performance ingame too.
Personnally, I dont give a fuck to the 3D feature.

@DarkAngel : The BenQ XL2410T poll rate is 5ms, contrast 10 000 000 : 1, HDMI 1.3, and the Acer GD245HQ has 2ms poll rate, contrast 100 000 000 : 1, HDMI 1.4. I compared this monitor with ViewSonic V3D241wm-LED and Asus VG236HE - 3D and it still has the best settings (even against the ASUS :[ ) .

@Skull : About gfx, if you mean the power of my gpu, I think I have enough. I can easily run Q3 at 333fps and with 1920x1200 (my usual resolution), but many older gpus can do it too.
If only 3D will not work with my gpu, that would be still interesting me because I really just care about the 120Hz (and sad that there isnt 1920x1200-120Hz lcds).

@ Zack : And If I only want a LCD, thats for the lack of depth on my desktop.

@83427 : ViewSonic V3D241wm-LED is the only one 120 Hz monitor that supports HD3D Confused, others are three monitors at 60 Hz displayrefresh. ATI HD6950 can supports HD3D.

@DarkAngel : 2ms grey-to-grey, but 5ms black-white-black. Acer GD245HQ has 2ms poll rate black-white-black.

The response time was traditionally recorded at the full black > white transition, which became the ISO standard for this specification on LCDs. Grey transitions are far more common in practice but in terms of pixel latency, they remained significantly behind the ISO transition.
