You need follow by the next scenario: uninstall (then restart) -> assign your card with Standard VGA Adapter (restart again) -> Install new driver (+ WDM Capture driver if your card has video capture feature). In case of troubles you may be required advanced manual uninstall with searching and removal of specific registry keys containing: PCI:VEN_1002 for ITI/AMD and PCI:VEN_10DE for NVIDIA. And removal of files: ati*.* for ATI/AMD and nv*.* for NVIDIA.
