I was always for CRT monitors - always thought LCD have a lot of work to do before gaining the same pic quality BUT I bought in April 2007 Samsung 20" widescreen and it took away almost every single one of my assumptions for LCD monitors...anyway...
monitor is great, price was under 300€ (285 if i remember correctly) months ago and now u can buy (here in CRO) 22" wide screen for same price.
20" wide is now around 200€+.
3 yrs warranty and np...
Quake looks very nice with wide, and other options will totaly satisfy your every need for surfing, movies, etc.
+ it takes 10 times less space and weights like 5-7 kg.
u wont regret it LCD wide is the future
I agree with beazt on using 4:3 lcd for quake, thats why i bought such a screen, cause i play on 800x600 or 1024 which would look crap on a mid or low class widescreen lcd.
Lol, why do you ppl play on such low res? I play @my native monitor's res 1680x1050 and can't even imagine playing on lower (when I had 17 CRT I also played on high res - 1280x1024).

I know some ppl will disagree and i hope this doesnt start a flamewar but resolution does affect sens, for me at least and on those resolutions my mouse response in quake was the best.Dont take this as a general rule, some ppl said res doesnt affect their sens,is that true or they just dont notice it,i wont get into that. And tbh, dont care

this is madness!
Srsly how could u play on a 17" on such a high rez? Well thing is the lower the resolution, the bigger everything is (including enemies). This is especially very useful if you use a high fov, like 130 for example. Ofc 1024 rez on fov 90 on a 19" screen might give some headaches in time.
Btw I heard alot of good things about this monitor:
VIEWSONIC VX2235wm
It is 22" 5ms capable of 85Hz,I regret now a little that i didnt take it.

I have CRT monitor LG F900B 19" FLatron and I play on 640x480 and fov 94. I think CRT is best for game but maybe it's habit. LCD widescreen Is good for work or movie but for quake?? Hmm affair gusto
If someting is for all, for real it's for nothing
i dont think its standard but i tried on GF8600GT and LG 19" WD LCD to play in wd resolution (1400x900 or smth like that) and it didnt work. After switch to this resolution game went to window from fullscreen. On that comp was simply impossible to play that game
