Nah Tom's hardware was caught getting money to favor some brands on their reviews, check anandtech.com btw right now Intel is better let's see what AMD comes with I have used both and I know AMD is quite good despite the price .

I've used both AMD and Intel. They both performed about the same for me. I prefer Intel because of the built in overheat protection that AMD has not had since in forever.

Now i use AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
I have the same processor, works fine with me. No probs, and also depends on the time. Right now Intel has a nice gamma of processors that would defenitely kick AMD's ass but, AMD has the best performance and architecture and ofc they are cheap. Just wait until AMD will launch their new gamma of Quad processors and new tech 
...When: the dual cores were released AMD got the lead by 1000 miles over intel , and both processors cost the same and also the intel processors were "fasters" but AMD kicked theirs asses so bad ...peace...

There are also cheap Intel CPUs which own AMD in all. And don't be so sure about new AMD quads, cuz Intel 45nm quads are comming too
