Audio missing/delayed
Audio from enemy is either:
- missing: No audio whatsoever, no steps and no weapon buzz.

No enemy walk sound for an example.
This is made from live recording when playing - What I see+hear is what u see.
Issue doesnt show in demo.
- Deleyed: You hear an enemy jump behind you, turn around and bam he is in your face. Watching mvds you see that enemy didnt sneak up nor moved fast. Just normal jumping. Problem doesnt show in demos, there you hear it from far away.
Aint got a decent liverecording of issue.
Nub theory: If there is a big number of clients on server, it trashes some audio.
tried audio driver reinstal/instal ?
You said that demos sounds fine. Maybe its not sound that changed but players' position.
maybe some e+ bugs ...

i dont know if this was resolved or not
but happend to me many times to shot (and kill) a guy in the air (he was in air not me) and after that to hear his landing sound or a landing sound .. i guess it was his since none else was around (1v1)

it's the same for me. often to play and not hear enemies near or hear shots fired. even sometimes i don't get the audio for when the team scores.
lol i have the same problem...many times dunno what is this
my nubish teory is:
that i moved fast with bfg or granades...so i see more faster the enemy than the sound arrives to me...lol
but dont know why this happens...but it happens so often
I too had this from time to time with 2.0a, mostly when I captured the enemy's flag. Usually there is an announcement saying "you got the flag" but quite often this wasn't played. I can't recall that I had this with 2.1!

Are you sure this does not happen on demos? Any hints to reproduce would be awesome.
never had the feeling of missing sounds in demos and i seen a lot of demos, however ingame it was there time to time.
I also can say this error wasn't in 1.03, otherwise, no idea, we never managed to get it stable.
MVD's has tons of missing sound effects. Other than that, welcome to the dark side skull.
MVD is a big bad hack to bypass the engine limitations. Guess it's still better than being limited to one view.
Will leave this open for now. Please report back on 2.2 if the issue is still present.
Edit: I mean issues with audio, not MVD.
