When you open the zip what files are in it?

ok then that is definilty a pk3 file. just rename it to pk3 (and make sure you are seeing the file extensions, otherwise you will have a mapname.pk3.zip which will not work) then copy it to baseq3. that is all.
and in case you are in q3 when you do that, restart q3.

dude, just drop down the console (with the ~ key) and type /map q3hockey-final

Shows up in my selection screen no problem, in all gametypes. Scroll around, should be there somewhere. If not... maybe your Q3 runs some older point release? Do you have 1.32?
there is 5 folders levelshots, maps, scripts, sound, textures and 6 files called levelshots, maps, q3hockey.txt, scripts, sound and textures.
Inside each folder is as follows:
levelshots: q3hockey.jpg
maps: q3hockey.aas, q3hockey.bsp
scripts: glassnfog.shader, linelite.shader, q3hockey.arena, whitebanner.shader
sound: hey.wav, wantcup.wav
textures: myshaders folder q3hockey folder, myshaders and q3hockey files.
