k ali could you pls sit down and explain to me just how that map (xpfreeze0) makes any sense? cos as far as i can see its just a random collection of rooms with lots of teles, jump pads and weird max curvy walls with no purpose whatsoever.

guys i dont know shit about mapping. i havent tried. i probably will some time soon. but from a players point of view a map that doesnt make SENSE is worthless. could you folks pls stop focusing on stupid textures and start thinking about how the map will play out in terms of gameplay? and gameplay not just in plus.cfg, pls consider that a map in e+ would be much better off if it would cater to a lot of possible options that the customizability of the mod allows.

k im not sure if u mappers have read this or maybe an equivalent article but i think this would be where i would start off with mapping.

Competitive Level Design Guide - lifted off from promode wiki. obviously it doesnt address the issues of e+ mapping but i think its a must read for mappers in any mod.

big big PS: k this post has a very negative tone. so i must make sure u understand. im not criticizing u guys just for the sake of it or for having fun. mapping is something i care about and that is the only reason y i said the above.

that's the map you played in :

if you have seen on mirrors (there are about 6 in the map)
you would have seen something like,
if not, so try this /r_fastsky 0 to see in mirrors/teleporters/skys :

other thing about mirrors : if there other guys moving in the map, you will see other lights than yours moving in front of letters in the mirror. => it's a presence detector. Winking

ali. i dont think u got my point. i was trying to say that a map is a little more than a random collection of rooms with lots of fancy mirrors, teleports, jump pads and textures and stuff. xp0freeze lacks just about everything its possible to lack in a map in terms of gameplay. i would suggest you look at a map like say pro-q3dm6 or cpm3a and think about things like at each room in the map - y are there certain items placed in the room and is there anything special about the placement? what are the different unique features in the room that aid gameplay? what are the exits to the room and what advantages, disadvantages do the exits offer to a player? and a lot of other things.
