Help for buy new monitor
its not worth to buy a gaming monitor if you are not a hardcore professional gamer. You can use any monitor for Quake.. 2 ms and 5 ms is not such a big diference, and you dont need 120hz if you play even with 60hz bad.
You're so wrong LCDs just burst one's eyes and get you off your game.
Better try and find an old faithful CRT, you can't get any better, plus they're cheap most of the times, except maybe for some rarities.
The problem is they're hard to find nowadays, and the sellers won't ship them easily, but it's really worth it...
(with some old 22" CRTs you can get 1920*1200@100hz, although 1024*768@120hz is the smoothest setting ever)
Be patient!
The best u can buy for games is probably benq XL2410T its co worked with zowie, next is viewsonic VX2268wm and the mentored asus VG236H

Spend your money on smth else, because summer is coming
forgive me but monitor have nothing to do with playing good or bad its all about comfort, with 60Hz monitor yours q3 going to split video sequences when u going to turn around. And slow pixels color change will going to lead to a lag and blurring.
best for q3 is a crt 19 or 21" which does 120 hz sharp on 1024x768 or higher resolutions, so please be a bit more specific.
Know anyone selling?
just google for used iiyama vision master pro 450, 451, 454, 510, 514...
mitsubishi, sony, samsung or even dell and compaq produced very good monitors also, but any CRT with diamondtron technology will be fine.
basically most of the flat 19/22" CRTs handle high refresh rates (at least 1024*768@120hz)
Monitor LCD Samsung 19" LCD SM 940BW+ check this
Samsung 2233RZ works on 120hz on every resolution.
Samsung 2233RZ works on 120hz on every resolution.
sounds nice remains LCD though, means there will always be an input lag but maybe that it's not noticeable on newer generations LCDs
I'm dying to try some nice 120hz LCD cuz I think my roasty CRT won't survive one more summer lol.
Wat about dpi? I heard Sony made the best CRT possible.
yep, sony made some very good CRT monitors (using the trinitron flat
tubes, similar to diamondtron tubes which were used by mitsubishi and
iiyama among others).
diamondtron and trinitron flat tubes are the best you can get for CRTs.
from what I recall, sony and mitsubishi monitors are pretty hard to find,
you might rather try to get a iiyama since they produced a lot of good
diamondton monitors which were similar to sony's trinitrons.
edit: what did you mean by "what about dpi?"
