This is a major problem I think, if people want rule changes they should ask it in public. And as Riddler pointed out, the ref is already there to handle problems (such as a lagger). The whole thing was a bit clumsy, also it wouldn't hurt if mods started moderating - and then handing out bans. Secondly it might be good not to lock threads at the closest sign of trouble: the lag-rule thread for example isn't exhausted with the new edition of the rule, but the debate is stifled. On the whole I'm sceptical of this general forum crackdown, it lacks finesse and will be counter-productive (i.e. people will shut up and stop being active).

Thirdly some general observations:

This place suffered a major brain drain with profilic, active and sensible people leaving. This coincided with a influx of players who didn't add as much but were very vocal, more often than not in a different langauge to english. To make a long story short, I guess I just grew out of this place.

P.S.

Give the guys a christmas amnesty, some didn't even have a warning before. And most would be defused if mods just talked about the situation.

i am disturbed the most by the non existent reaction by mods to the excessive flaming and trolling from weed<3 and sweedshot (for instance in the unity thread or every other topic that is at some point about skull)
