Without paying or trial version or something? I dont want to pay for something that i dont know if its gotta work om my pc or not. And will i be able to run old games like quake 3?
Sounds interesting to me allthough. The best part of what i read of aboute W7 is Xp mode.

To see if you are able to run windows 7 use Micrsoft's own Upgrade advisor
My opinion:
Windows 7 being faster than Vista is negligible, depending on hardware.
Windows 7 runs smooth, but so does xp, and so did win98se.
I had Vista running for a while before going back to XP, i now have 7 Ultimate installed and will not go back to XP, atleast not on this system, other systems are still running xp.
PS
If you work fine with xp, have a semi old pc, i see no reason to upgrade atleast not for a "normal" user.
windows 7 is smoother than vista?
i've wanted to go back to XP because of vista being unsmooth and sometimes jolty
but i can't since my drivers aren't recognised lol
1gb minimum of RAM??
i only have 1.7, will i suffer with windows 7 more than vista?

I disagree. Vista was not as fast for me with the same hardware. I had to disable all kinds of feature to get a reasonable performance. With W7, so far so good, it's performing well. But only time will tell whether it will keep stable after installing all of my programs .

You're comparing a freshly installed windows 7 with a fully installed long running vista? Like comparing newly installed xp sp3 with 2 year running xp sp1.
I put some machines at work in a test setup for a few days, with fresh installed vista and 7, things like start up time, network performance, programs we use @ work, then the same with some "tweaks", and the overal "windows 7 is much faster than windows vista" just wasn't there. Faster? Yes and no. Then again, i'm not an average user.
And no i do not say go for Vista, there is no reason to go for Vista.
Actually Reno had his Vista just a couple of weeks...
the guy at best buy told me w7 wouldn't run on my trusty 486sx/33
