Here are two maps the first is a map i've being working on for quite along time this is because of its size and partly my pc hardware as well.

The second map is my remix of q3dm17 i did a while ago when johnny gave me the idea. it was fairly simple but its nice not to see black but a lovely sunny day Happy

The main map being Xp-Wwands is designed for large event style games as the map is just to big for anything else. i have done a fair amount of clipping on the map so you should be able to bfg side as much as you want. Some of the door act differently to others this is because of performance related issues which are now fixed. when you load the map you will experience fps drops for the first 10/15 secs i dunno why but after that it seems to not lag at all and for most parts runs even up to 200fps. however i still recommend you play at 125 fps as 200 is not always stable (or needed). about the maps lighting... parts of the map were supposed to be dark anyways like the area with the big spinning thing however if you play of high picmips this may worsen the darkness feeling depending on your lighting settings..apart from that the map is bright enough as i have now being able to test it on various monitors.

Two thing which you may have problems with.

Firstly there is no bot file/ass. for this map because it is too large and complex to compile one. however there is a way but it takes forever and i cant be assed Tongue.

Secondly the map may or may not appear in your skirmish menu i have two quake installations and it only appears in one of them and i could not understand why.

If you have problems with performance i suggest you remove background tasks or buy a new pc Happy for some reason i find quake lags with firefox. dunno why maybe its a cachc thing taking ram or whatever but be aware of it. i can get stable fps on my 2.2 Pentium dual core with 4 gib ram , this is only basic laptop so if your pc is having problems. it sux Smug

Annoying i cant make the map any bigger as it has reached the limit amount of ram on my pc too compile it (with readyboost as well Winking ) so dont ask me to remake any parts of it.

(damn as i was taking the shots for this post i notices one caulk error but its very small goodluck finding it Happy )

edit: (at rsqt crew Winking one other thing the compressed file size is 17 meg ish (dunno where i got 70 from)

i rlly like this one Xp-Wwands but you forgot add the .aas file to your .pk3.. i can't add bots..

yes as i mentioned above the map is too complex and due to me not seeing ahead because of what i knew back then (when i first started this map) it would be very hard to generate a bot file. basically the map is too complex so a ass. file can't be made.
When i next make a map i will plan it more according but theirs nothing i can do about this one atm. at least not in the short term.
The bsp is in the pk3 file so if anyone thinks they can make a ass. file outer it i wont stop you Happy
later i might try making a simple geometric version (for bots) and using that try to reattach it to the more complex bsp. but it will take me ages and i have more pressing things i then to do. maybe another time.

Also can you tell me does it appear in your skirmish menu ? Happy

The map is perfect for E+,it should be on Beer.Freezer Big grin

Edit: ive tested the map and damn its awesome for E+ man Big grin but the lights should be improved Happy but other then that its awesome! Big grin,sometimes i take a prac match vs bots and this is the map im gonna use from now on ;D

havent played it, because my mouse is broken, so cant comment on the physical side of it, but some damn nice screens there.

If some areas area still to dark for you use the \r_lightmap 1 command it keeps lighting the same even with high picmip values. An' thx frank i find creativeness come with effort.
My next map will be a LOTR's map (prolly the mines of tirith) as i dont think ive seen any lotr's maps in quake. Happy

btw mate,do you know where i can learn to use the Q3 Radiant?i downloaded it last week and i though it was just like SourceSDK for Css,HL2,TF2 etc. but its different Happy

It come with a user manual and several other help options in the help menu i found are a good starting point.

You will unless you very lucky come across problems when making your map. Don't give up treat it as a valuable time which you can learn about your problem and how you can fix it. Also you can ask any of the mapping team here if you need any help. gl Happy

Edit: i use gtkRadient 1.5 so i'm not sure if all of these relate to your editor but I've kept it generalist.

Edit: i'm about to start using the unreal editor soon if anyone has any knowledge on it maybe i could use your help.

Is this your first map? It looks like it. A few tips, you should have all rooms connected for gameflow, your map is a loose fit, I suggest you make it much smaller, you could probably fit 2 medium sized maps in one room, it can get boring and effects peoples hardware and FPS, add more textures, add trims and use wall textures for walls, using floor textures for walls looks odd. Not to be harsh, just saying. If this is your first map, then I congratulate you. You done way better than me. This is my first map:
