  1. You must run pbsvc.exe to check everything.
  2. Then you need to go in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 if you have 64bit or C:\Windows\System32 if you have 32bit.
  3. There you will find PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe
  4. Right click, properties, compatibility and at the bottom CHANGE SETTINGS FOR ALL USERS.
  5. Check Run as an administrator.
  6. same for both files.
  7. Restart.
Worked for me. Hope it helps.

I will try it after inactive, thank you.

Do you have pb installed? Do you have those files i mentioned in those folders? What did pbsvc said, any errors? I'm guessing you are using old Q3 install with pb folder already in it. Try to reinstall point release again, it has pb in it. Then check again.

Mby it would be not bad if you create a new BAT file to start Q3. I did it for me and it works very well Winking

I will show you here how to create a batch file (.bat) for Quake 3.

First of all the Quake 3 game has to be installed and the point release!!

Than you have to check if the files --> PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe -- are in the right folder (X:\Windows\System32)

Next step: open the Windows Editor and write the following lines in it:
NET START "PnkBstrA"

NET START "PnkBstrB"

START /d "C:\Program Files (x86)\Quake III Arena" quake3.exe

Please pay attention on the path for the Q3 game. In the example above
it's the path for my game and therefor you have to replace here that
with your path... "X:\............\Quake III Arena"

Next step: now you can save that as .txt file to your desktop. For example "Start Quake 3.txt"

Next step: now you can change the file extension from .txt to .bat

You are done

Everytime you double klick on that file, this will start automatically
the Q3 game and the two services PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe.

I did that for me and I can tell you -> it's very confortable

Re: Windows 8 (x64)

reinstalled q3, later run pbsvc.exe and it runs services. So now all is fine. Thank you guys for help.

So all who don't have pnkbstrA and pnkbsrtB in services, just start pbsvc.exe and push "Reinstall/Install Service".
