I have a strong compulsion to write a blog about the whole rage about "QLinsta" within this community. Plenty of things seemed wrong to me. First of all, I've been here since 2006, and that whole attitude of "you came to our mod and you change things" seemed very amateurish to me, since every config community goes through major alterations every 18 months or so. Second of all, people raged at an invisible enemy (when I say Invisible, I don't mean the Moldavian gamer girl that was breifly in love with zoot c: , I mean "adjective which means impossible to see" ) since only one person from QL played excessive ( he was a guest at a ZMB pcw and played 2 maps). And finally, it was just a bunch of random people that couldn't hold a torch to a mirror without shouting "OMG MOMMY, MY FACE IS ON FIRE" raging at each other, none of who have anything to do with noghost, or post-2009 excessive.

Anyway, here is my blog about the whole fiasco:

I saw alienm's signature, want to correct a few things.

1) "go play QL" - Basically nobody plays instagib in Quakelive, and the war scene for instagib (the "qlinsta") is less than 2% of ranked games on quakelive events. Seriously. There is a giant scene for duel. There is a lot of public CA, there is quite a lot clan CA. There is a big scene for TDM+pickups nad CTF+pickups, but the instagib scene is smaller, and a lot more casual. BECAUSE NO-ONE IN QL PLAYS INSTAGIB AND TAKES IT SERIOUSLY. Just wanted to write that.

2) "If you like to play this cfg create your own community + mod"?

How shallow and uninformed is Rayden to write this, and alienM for putting that in her signature? Excessive is a meta-mod with cups available for all. Just because you don't like something, we don't have to hear about it in every single post you make. There was an insta-unlagged cfg cup in 2007, with 16 PLUS clans playing it (only plus clans, no-one from noghost or iu signed up). Yet clans like lemon, drt and hyper signed up. Nobody complained or raged, but this was a long time before Rayden, AlienM or "Voron" ever entered excessive. It's a turn for the better, right?

3) "Its boring when someone CAN'T give money to play on QL servers"

When someone can't give money to QL servers, he or she doesn't. However, no QL clans signed up to the OSRC2. inFected/nuclear/nqe don't even play ql anyway. XIII does iFT there in a small cup (a cup which I am not part of by the way). In fact clan leaders of mi3 and R2 have pro accounts in QL, just as do 2 members of [13] and pretty sure "3m" has a couple as well. (while the "new QL clans" you talk about with so much hate don't know anything about QL, some have their own servers on 1.16, as well as 5 public pcw servers. That's right, 5.)

Sorry, that sentence was so idiotic that I had to give it 2 points.

Now that we've established that the quote above is barking up the wrong tree, let's dig a little further at what is so ignorant about it. (yes, Rayden assumes that the "new clans" are from poor mods and need excessive to survive (a logical fallacy which fucks me up cos 1) they don't 2) they are just clans interested in taking part in as much competitions as possible and 3) as a local of excessiveplus, he's making them feel unwelcome and showing this mod as a close-nit community full of xenophobic assholes). I mean even if they were a bunch of sponging gypsies too poor to afford their own server (i get about 2 PCW challenge server invites per day despite not playing noghost for about a month, so once again,the claim about "them wanting our servers" is not true), even if they were, what is the logic about making them feel unwelcome. Anyone who played plus before 2010 would be horrified to see this nade/rail/bfg configs which you guys claim is "the core of excessiveplus".

But I bought a pro acc, two year in a row, despite being disappointed with features and updates, just so I can invite friends to private games and servers. And in early december, I've bought 13 unreal tournament copies for my clanmates and distributed them out (giving 3 last keys to randoms, publicising the fact I am giving away free copies of a game on several communities). Considering that I'm like, the only person who could be considered "from QuakeLive" (considering day-to-day awareness of paid cups, LANs, rumours with clans, players, communities) to be in "excessiveplus" (considering I check this forum and play sometimes), I am 100% of the representation of the "QL community in excessive". Don't think I am too cheap for finding servers (and once again, leaders of XIII, r2 and mi3, all excessiveminus clubs, have pro accounts as well)

First of all, you spelt my name wrong, and second, I have only hosted two events in my whole lifetime (both of which 2006 Christmas Fuckabout Cup 2008 International Summer Plus Cup were hosted in excessive. If you are referring to that thing I posted in here about 2 months ago promoting iFT and iCTF, you are wrong, it is not my cup, and I am not involved there, not as a supervisor and not as an admin. 7) "come here to play for FREE in our servers and our Events"

Nobody is forcing anyone to play. Just change rcon+ref on your server and give it to limited people, so nobody can use your server for playing excessiveplus (excessiveplus should be only played in the ways YOU approve). And if you don't want certain people to be in your events, just ban them from participating your events. If you are hosting events, and you are having such Orwellian thoughts, there is nothing preventing you from doing it after thinking it.

I am sorry, but who needs you? The several noghost clans (most of which don't want to upgrade to 1.32 from 1.16 and who you have never seen) that have their own community, their own regulated set of cups on an external gaming website and their own set of gaming servers?

Or is it the QuakeLive community?
Which of course means the semi-existant instagib QuakeLive community (only clan to play both e- and ql is, by the way, [13], which was created for e+ and an e+ cup.

Or is it the actual quakelive community which includes 75000 duellers and 63000 CA players since august 2011?

Either way, considering I managed to get 8 bullet points from three asinine sentences which could have been written should probably show that most of that logic is flawed, and the statements are either results of bias, misinformation or downright idiocy. Either way, I hope the real excessiveplus players aren't discouraged from playing as a result. I've seen like, 2 noghost players post their opinions on this forum, and only one stayed for more than his cw obligations.

And all the "noghost" statements here are from that Serbian dude Equinox who is from excessive originally, and he is just as stupid and opinionated as AlienM ( I feel sorry for SP as the only non-moronic Serbian quake player (frr is aiight too by the way! I just don't know him very well) At least he gets to chill in the Yugo-VIP lounge with Nicola Tesla, His Royal Highness Franz Ferdinand, Josip Tito, Hrvoje "rtz" Tito and Sebastian Frikovic).

Anyway, my point is: People of excessive don't really need new players, there is a small but steady clan scene, a (very esoteric) set of rules and nobody really needs to come in. But quake3, and deathmatch itself, is a dying breed, so there is no point fighting amongst people with similar interests.

You see, the LANs in quake have prizes no bigger than £25000 (total prize purse), while dota2, battlefield and LoL have events where winner gets 1 million dollars. If that's not an alarming statistic, then look up to where I posted QLranks showing 75000 duellers. Well, there are currently 3.7 million registered starcraft2 players, 1.7 million League of Legends players who reached level 30 and have played a ranked game and 781109 Dota2 players (this game is still in a closed beta stage!) so the active 22 (I counted) clans in here better watch out cos RTS and MOBA genres needs us to survive And fuck being nice to newcomers, let's just form a xenophobic cult and force anyone who has different views from us into submission or kick them out!
