motherboards dont mix ram as far as i know, this is why people usually buy the exact same model ram, so it works better, if you mobo has 4 sockets it will be 4 of the same type not 2 of each

dell is quait unique he making nonstandard motherboard, thier mobo's can suport up to 64GB ram where the standard desktop have limits on 4GB

omg im an IT TECH and i didnt know that but im betting he hasnt got one of them, im sure dell wouldnt sell combo mobo's, but dude look at the slots and see if the are the same size, email dell and find out also.

- a-data 512MB pc3200
- kingston 512MB pc3200
- a-data 256MB pc2700
u can use many combo's, im gonna remove my pc2700 cause it slowing down my other ram..

Why 2x256 if you alredy have 2x128 and 2 free slots just get 2 more 128 modules and that will give you the 512 mb you are looking for and it would be cheaper.
