m0ve cfg has 2 multijumps for quite some time (thats actually 1 normal jump and 1 multijump) and i like it there.

in plus alike cfg though, i think we should take it a bit easier. atm the cfg has 3 (1 + 2 multi) jumps in ctf, lets see how that goes, and if people dont seems to mind it, it will be transfered to other gametypes too.

changes should be gradual, thats probably why this cfg seems overwheling to most, a lot of different small changes are introduced, since its been a year since any major update to gameplay, and a lot of small changes quickly add up.

I am proud of spreading a pirated Excessive Plus version and claim to be the original author, yay!

Going to try this. I am sure it will rock like m0ve. Folksie obviously has a talent for creating balanced cfgs.

But... there is still a place for n00b configs. I have a fear that the push for pro configs (m0ve, io, edawn, etc.) will alienate some new visitors and old casual players if we exclude n00b (one with 4+ multijumps) cfgs like DeeXslds/DeeXpls from public servers. Diversity is an advantage not a distraction.

The problem is that cfg authors frequently leave out this parameter (including Folksie in m0ve v.6.4).

One of 2 situations (both bad) then occur:

1. Server Admins use creative license to insert their own g_speed. Personally, I think if you modify the weapons section or certain miscellaneous settings like g_speed that you should rename the cfg.

2. When you have a multi cfg FragFest or permit cfgs to be callvoteable the cfg without a specified g_speed uses the g_speed of the previous cfg. Example, load nwc+ (g_speed 420) and then load plus version 240707.

I'm pretty sure that g_speed can be set via the rotation file.

So for a multi config fragfest, one could simply do:

g_speed of plus isnt fixed, u can run on g_speed 320, 350 ,400,420 or even 1000 if u wish.
though first server with plus.cfg got g_speed 350 for faster gameplay and so it spread over all servers using the cfg.
foksie fixed this in edawn to 350, it should have be done in plus long ago imo.

TY Digit. But I did know that. My point was that how would you know what to set? Who determines that?, and still calls it plus or edawn or m0ve or whatever the cfg happens to be?

In other words, I feel that the cfg creator knew what effect he or she was going for and that g_speed should be the "official" speed and it should be set within the cfg.

very rare.. all original plus'es 320 as far - and this is hell slow, i don't know any server with named plus.cfg with is faster then 350, this kind off diff is easy to notice (well maybe i don't play so often or on many different servers.. this might be also true)

Anyway i like edawns speed (it feels something in middle/closer to e5), and i suggesting keep it fixed, wo any stupidities like do others(example, on rotations) - without renaming original cfg (all MUST accept editing rule: edited cfg = renamed cfg in anny cases).

well, plus were always played on g_speed 350, very rare and just temporary on 320. This comes out of bro.cfg, which were played also all the time on 350.

Dunno what u all have with the speed 320, which were "usually" never played.

Well, since g_speed isn't a typical gameconfig command, older configmakers didnt mentioned to put it in gameconfig. But why not, put it in gameconfig, so, it will be the same on all servers for sure for the case the config becomes popular one day (hopefully it does).

But this needs more as to make just a "good config". Without a popular server which is using it, a config has just low chances to replace a config which is used on all popular servers.

Plus.cfg just became popular, because i had a popular server for it. And no server without a visibility script will become popular.

So, u need more to talk with serveradmis like camel and oskaliber and the on from the servers with that strange "feindflug". Well, i asked oskaliber already to use edawn instead of plus, since plus is really outdated in any cases and totally ridicolous in its settings (remember, it was just created because mullder was NOT cooperative).

But Oskaliber mentioned just "I dont like it, i wont use it".

Well, the actual gameplay isnt much different then plus.cfg, but the config itself does make way more sense then plus.cfg u just need to care "a bit" more ur weapons, and armor became "a littlebit" more interesting. (anyway, if u have full armor, u should be able to resist a railshot, that is my oppinion).

Most people do not even recognize a different, they dunno in the "first moment" that they play on a different config, so i dont understand, why serveradmins DONT want to change from plus to edawn. This feels like "beeing afraid of new things".

Pesonally i am not able in the moment to make a popular server, since the some kernels of our rootserver do not work as they should, and to repair it is a lot of work, and the linuxadmin has not really that time currently, to repair it, otherwise i we would have already a popular server with this config.

Under the line, edawn is better then plus, if u play edawn, u dont miss anything from plus, except u r a notoric multijumper and and need this 12 trillion multijumps from plus.cfg. IMO!

I think a g_speed of 350 for edawn is great and I hope we can all agree to leave it at that speed.

Lots of cfgs is good, lots of variations of the same cfg is bad.

As far as plus.cfg, it seems that 350 is the most common speed in Europe, with bursts (according to Skull) of 420 or higher.

In the US, the most common speed is 320. This is what my server Death Head Fraggers (DHF) uses and what the American Clan Rank Competition and Bone Breakers Cup mandates.
