First of all thanks to everyone who commented while i was away.

Scyzor, you make some good points, but i cant help but notice you seem to be talking about an older version of edawn. Last version i uploaded a week or two back had numerous changes compared to version you are talking about: 12 shots with PG, you spawn with no armor, and a brand new health system which makes lg, mg etc much stronger against campers (system was based on a suggestion by skull, which at first i tought will suck, but the more i tought about, the more i liked it).

your suggestion for camp protection only against rail, unfortunatly cannot be done. e+ doesnt have an option for that. it would be a good one, though.

as for the comments at g_speed: plus side (broxp.cfg nh_1v1.cfg plus.cfg etc) always had 350 ups speed on pretty much all servers, until very recently, when many servers started to use 320 (probably due to lack of knowledge, or due to server owners enjoying it more).
i put the speed to 360 in edawn mostly because i feel it helps bring a more dynamic gameplay, just ever so slightly, yet its only 10 ups more, so its not completely gamechanging and gamebreaking.

anyway, please continue to post criticism and suggestions, it can only make this config much better at end.

thats actually what i tought so at first, i didnt think it would be good, but after quite some testing i think it works so well, i might actually make camp protection weaker, since there is less incentive to camp now, imo.

If u think u do solve most of the cons what I’m talking about in new config then U are wrong.
lg – is still to weak, it’s even weaker than normal baseq3 config has. Comparing values in % gives around 24 units in edawn.cfg to make it same like in baseq3, hope U was not serious to make it weaker than normal q3 and making rest weapons stronger?
mg – u claim it has no spread but it has as I pointed U before.
pg – we have ammo in lg for 5 seconds of constant fire, but plasma-gun had only 1.5 seconds of fire, maybe somebody playing on bot can have 100% accuracy with plasma-gun and then he cloud kill someone with it. Btw can u try making it cycle 120 and damage 93?
rail – in rail ammo never ends, but it is so easy to run out of ammo in weapons like bfg, rl, sg, pg, ammo regeneration in these guns is to slow or not enough at beginning, maybe try to make it +1/2 or +1/3 of fire rate for each weapon, and if u limit weapons limit rail to, I don’t want play rail only cfg.
regeneration – it makes more mess as it was before, if u take one regeneration u get almost immortality, only rail can get U or spam. Even anticamp while u have regeneration can’t make u harm cause its regenerating yours hp faster than anticamp its taking it away.
@mow, sorry maybe I truly don’t understand sense of this topic, Foksie said he want improve plus.cfg and that what I’m trying to help him archive. Sorry once again if I messed something up.

yes i am serious, in baseq3 lg is the powerhouse weapon that you have to pickup from the map. in edawn you spawn with it. big difference. it will be slightly increased though.

Well, I see it all that way opposite, in plus.cfg we have stronger lg, mg, bfg beside armors, regeneration and healing items has not as that much influence as in edawn.cfg, so its way easier to kill someone by all the guns in plus.cfg. Rail ammo never ends in edawn.cfg and for bfg, rl, sg, U can shot only twice in fight, then u are forced to switch to rail or wait on weapon ammo and in the meanwhile get reaped by enemy spam or rail. So if in both configs rail is the same and in edawn.cfg rest of guns are less effective than in plus.cfg witch config favorite more rail? The answer is quite obvious. And if enemy has regeneration u will shout out all ammo of lg without killing him at all, then u are forced to switch to another weapon.
Mine conclusion is that edawn.cfg force u to use the rail for killing. I’m trying to use other weapons but can’t kill enemy by them, the config forcing people to use rail in self.

Rail has 3 times more power than in baseq3 and u also get it on spawn, for me weapons are unbalanced.

  • machinegun does less damage, but is insanely more accurate.
  • shotgun does 540 damage max, plus one does 385.
  • edawn has stronger lg than in plus. 380 dps compared to ~360.
  • grenade launcher does more damage in edawn.
  • rocket does more damage in edawn.
  • plasma is stronger in edawn.
  • bfg is significantly stronger in edawn on direct hit, weaker on splash hit.

honestly, where did you study math to claim that they are weaker?

Seems that edaw is getting bad. i would rather play plus cfg than edaw now. IMO the game speed is 2 high. Even just a walking speed is like usual speed in cs. Or its made for running out of camper alert radius which is 2 high. Have to run through the 2 small rooms to stay alive...Its optimal for 3v3 but up to 7v7 is unplayable.The camp protection and game speed in plus cfg were fine
