Grenade Or Rocket Jumps ?
What with the "or"?
I personally use all three. Slides for powerful, almost instanteous transition, nades for fast, medium lenght jumps, and rockets for short-ranged, highly controllable movement.
It's not a question of preference, but rather, one of need, imo.
I use rockets more often than grenades simply because grenades give greater speeds = harder to control with low-sens like I use. But depending on the terrain I may opt for a grenade instead -- it really just depends on situations. Nine times out of ten it's rockets for me. Hell, I have pitch/yaw of 0.011 on RL and 0.012 on GL for that very reason.
Hmm, I use both + BFG jumps.
Grenades
hmm im using less and less of gjs and rjs. relying more and more on bfg slides. but imo the current method of rjs, gjs and slides are seriously flawed. it makes for waaaaaay too easy and boring gameplay after u get used to the jumps. imo rjs and gjs need to be seriously toned down and all the weap jumps including slides should come at a price...but most e+ folks probably wont agree with that..."excessive nature" blah! guess people dont like the idea that u mite actually have to work at learning movement.

true true
I completely and utterly disagree. Sorry, but toning down jumps would make you way more of a target. Limiting one's manouverability while having so insanely powerful weapons is a no-no. It would turn the game into a simple "who will click first".
Btw, you think, that just because you are able to do a rj, gj, that they're easy to master? Ever seen how players like HQ, Hard, or some of these CTF maniacs move?
I see this going to the land of offtopic so i'll make it short:
Strafe jumps is probably one of the most important/common aspects of Quake. It's hilarious to see the "best" players not being able to strafe. I am not talking just about gaining 900 ups from nades and then hold it.
It's "easy". I am not saying that we should make it "difficult" but more skill requiring. It's educating how fast and how quickly people gain speed on some cpma/defrag server without so strong nades.
My points are for nades. Rockets seem ok but i am no expert.
PS: In many (most?) cases battles in e+ come down to:
1) Who will click first.
2) Who has rg/bfg/rl binds on his mouse to spam the shit of his opponent. *hint hint*

---> not aspects of q3 but aspects of e+ , good players r able to make strafe jumps, but they do that occasionally, its better to sneak or spawncamp hm?

-----> no, its not easy to make effective nade jump wich will give u advantage.

-----> rockets are better, it means less binds, perhaps less spam. Anyway i cant say it for sure, i play on numpad so i dont have enough space to bind it, so i scroll to nades sometimesPS: In many (most?) cases battles in e+ come down to:
1) Who will click first. - depends on first click and hit;) u can click first but if u miss....
2) Who has rg/bfg/rl binds on his mouse to spam the shit of his opponent. *hint hint* - in every case
* prefer *
I was meaning by this : That you use most of the time.
