I used to have a config where I had only 3 weapons (rg, bfg,rl), so no grenade jumps during that time. Recently I introduced a few changes to it (and I have plenty of time to experiment now, guess why ), and gl (along with some other weapons) found it's way in. What I like about gren jumps is that they are powerful (easy to move from one place to another), while rl pros are less power and accuracy.

Rail jumps.
No seriously, after BFG slides my most common way of moving.
Then rockets.
No nade movement, since i 99% of the time play 1v1 on nh.cfg

I almost always use grenades as my choice of explosive to propel myself, but most of the time I gain speed by strafe jumping/bunny hopping and keeping that speed up while moving around. I don't really do BFG slides, and I use grenades primarily for gaining height, shooting across a big room/map, and moving around during fights in bigger rooms.

BFG for a boost jump

I also use grenade for winning weight to be able to do some holy shits and sometimes people say im annoying whit it
I use railjumps sometimes but since they are mid nade mid rocket I dont really use it.
And for the bfg.. at least 1000 slides per game. Sometimes I just slide for fun I mean I don't slide for specific reasons (flag, frag) sometimes I just use it to go really fast upon the map and thaw my allies
