interesting news
My outlook on this particular subject is the government in the United Kingdom is way to puritanical. Indubitably they'll be locking us up for littering..
Sure in this specific case the troller got trolled and was found culpable of such actions, nonetheless do you think he should have received such unlawful punishment? Wouldn't a good ol slap in the wrist and a fine would have sufficed?
The government only wants to prove a point here. They can do as they please!
did you read the news zack? what would be the right thing to do with someone like him then?get a bad comment for no reason from a 'troll' is different from a sociopath making website of your death daughter saying she was a whore and sending message like that to her mother ... its all about that..if i photoshop ur pics and i put a penis in ur mouth and i make a facebook page with it saying ur the best in UK, is it internet freedom?
ps if u mean that 18weeks are too much, well dunno its up to states law..ofc 2 years of no social network would works anyway
What you must all remember is that the internet and especialy social networking sites are relatively new to our societys. As with any culture, defining the parameters of what is acceptable, comes through the needs and beliefs of the population dependant on that culture.
I have always had the belief that the concepts of right and wrong are defined by the majoritys standpoint on a topic, if 80% of people responded in support of this persons actions, we as a society, would accept that this is normal behaviour, and the 20% would be viewed as weird.
A fact to illustrate my point:
In the amazon, there is a tribe which have a right of passage for boys reaching manhood. The boy is taken out with all the men of the village, who each take a turn to ejaculate in his mouth, this symbolises 'recieving the adult wisdom' of the tribe and its accendants. Discusting as this may seem, in their world it is a time honoured tradition, and an accepted norm.
Would we want to see people like this 'dick' becoming the accepted norm?
Relating to those who got jailed for the UK riots, it just goes to show what idiots some people are, did they really think that inciting a riot, looting, and antisocial behaviour would go unpunished? People had already been killed in those riots and planning the next wave is an act of terrorism, and as we all know (because the majority states) terrorism is so destructive, so we need to stop it becoming the accepted norm.
If this guy hassled me like this, I would hunt him down, I would want to know why he chose to target me, and would want to make sure the chances of him or anyone else doing it again are reduced, if this means setting an example, so be it.
The law can have a knee-jerk response at times, but surely its better this than allowing the world to be run by warp minded anarchist haters. Left unchecked these individuals develop into the Ghadafi's, Hussains, ladens, and hitlers of the world.
